12 ounce bottle from Rodman’s in Washington, DC. Pours a hazy orange-tinted yellow with a large white head. Average head retention and lacing. Aroma of bread, honey, nutty notes, lavender and spice. The taste is bready notes, grain, honey, spices, citrus, floral notes and a mild spicy hoppiness. Medium bodied.

At SAVOR. Poured a golden, slightly hazy color, with a fluffy white head. Aroma is spices, grain (wheat) and a touch of floral notes. Flavor is wheat grain, notes of citrus, coriander. A pretty decent Belgian witbier.

The Reef, DC tap ($6): Pours a orange/yellow color with a small white head (this does not look like a witbier). Aroma is a little spicy, with some fruitiness, but not of the same character as what one would expect from a wit. Body is fairly carbonated and feels fine. There is a little bit of sweetness from the fruity notes and the hop presence is also felt upon drinking it. As someone else has already said, this does not seem to be a proper witbier. In any case, it was drinkable enough, but also forgettable.

bottle - Pours a hazy straw color with a one finger white head and lots of carbonation. The aroma is of yeast, citrus, and spice. This brew is very bubbly on the palate to the point where I think it’s too much. The flavor is sweet with ample spice and notes of citrus. It’s light bodied and refreshing as the style is intended to be. The hops lend it a mildly bitter and dry finish. Pretty good.

I picked this up at Archer Liquors in Chicago, IL, which is by the Honda City, where I basically lost a full paycheck in their service department due to my psuedo-lemon of a car which I also purchased from them. Here’s to car-infused anger! This stuff is fantastic. Aroma of spices (mostly pepper) and the distinct Belgian wit yeast, also somewhat sweet. Appearance is a cloudy yellow with a robust white head. Taste is incredibly light and smooth, but a hint of spiciness remains along with clove and a touch of banana. Very much full flavored which I typically can’t say about many others of this style. Me likey!

A hazed golden wit with a thin lacing white head. Nice aroma of cloves, sweet candy malt, light fruity esters. In mouth, a good pungeant wit with cloves extract, very herbal, grassy hops, very pleasing and smooth classic wit. On tap at Maxfields, Potsdam, NY, June 30 2010.

Cloudy orange-yellow, with a thick, steady, white head. Mild sugary wheat aroma, a touch of oatiness. I was looking forward to a good, true Wit, but what I got was another awkwardly spiced beer. The mouthfeel is fine and you can tell it is fresh and brewed well, but the flavor profile just doesn’t work for me. The chamomile gives it an unpleasant minty, medicinal quality which dominates, while the coriander and orange peel just add to the mess, rather than complement or balance it. Sweet and tough to enjoy, a rather unpleasant beer.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a weizen glass. Pours a cloudy golden with white dense head, and nice lacing. Taste is floral wheat, spicy coriander, and some camomile. Has some of the favor and characteristics of a hefeweizen. Surprisely good, not a fan of camomile, but the camomile doesn’t overwelm.

Slightly hazy blondish golden coloured body with a small white head. Aroma of corn, curacao, coriander seed and some wheat. Medium to Light-bodied; Sharp bitter taste of wheat, strong yeast and way over-kept chamomile tea. Aftertaste shows the bittering tastes through, with some light curacao taste and a small freshness from the wheat. Overall, way too bitter and WAY WAY WAY too much yeast and sediment in the bottom of the bottle...literally 30 millilitres of sediment in the 33 cL bottle. I sampled this bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 07-April-2006 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
