In this northern German style retro altbier, we’ve dialled down the dry-hops to zero, but cranked up the malt to create massive aromas. Toasty, toffee and floral notes duke it out for supremacy in the headspace of your glass.

When this alt hits your palate, the steely bitterness combines with the rich dry malt and the subtle alcohol warmth in a full throttle attack on your taste buds.

Malts: Carafa, Extra Pale, Munich
Hops: Hersbrucker, Magnum

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 7B). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 581 DFAA. AROMA: moderate hop aroma with a spicy / herbal character. medium-low background of caramelized malt with Maillard notes (bread crust). very faint metalic aroma. APPEARANCE: ambar color and translucent. moderate creamy head ivory head with good retention. TASTE: moderate-low malt flavor with notes of bread crust, with a medium-high bitterness. medium-low herbal hop flavor. almost dry and bitter finish, tilted towards bitterness. PALATE: medium-light body with moderate carbonation. slight astringency. OVERALL: a somewhat nice altbier that would gain from more malt presence.

Clear amber beer with a thin white head and a malty toffee aroma. Flavour is actually slightly disappointing and I’m wondering if I over-chilled it and that’s dulled the flavours somewhat. The toasted malt and toffee are still there and being chilled makes it crisp and very drinkable but there’s not a heck of a lot of oomph to the taste. Not bad though.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Verksgata, Stavanger. ABV is 5.2%. Copper colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee and dust. The flavour is medium dry, hints of toffee and dusty malts, a slight fruitiness and decent hops in the finish makes the beer quite drinkable.

Sabores maltosos y cereales tostados y caramelizados con amargo final seco y duradero. Efectivamente al igual que el estilo alemán pero con algo más de amargo. Normal.

Clear dark brown colour. A fairly malty aroma. Flavour starts with malty sweetness and offers a bit of dryness and bitterness in the finish. A bit smoother and lower in carbonation than the traditional Alt beers.
