In this northern German style retro altbier, we’ve dialled down the dry-hops to zero, but cranked up the malt to create massive aromas. Toasty, toffee and floral notes duke it out for supremacy in the headspace of your glass.

When this alt hits your palate, the steely bitterness combines with the rich dry malt and the subtle alcohol warmth in a full throttle attack on your taste buds.

Malts: Carafa, Extra Pale, Munich
Hops: Hersbrucker, Magnum

Tap@Brewdog Clapham, London - amber copper coloured pour with off-white head. Aroma and taste is toasty malty, with prominent caramel and toffeish medium sweetness, some grassy and floral hoppy action, decent enough.

Draft @ Brewdog Brussels.

330 ml. bottle @ BrewDog Brussels. BBF 03/09/2016. Clear dark red amber, little tanned head. Nose is rather disappointing, rather watery with iron & weird herbal notes. Body & taste is rather thin, touch watery, soft carbonation. Sugar, low herbal qualities, touch toffee, light grandmother candy, light caramel, fruit. Agreeable but disappointing still. Quite different from other Altbeers that I have had so far but I am not that familiar with the style.

Draft@Brewdog, Leicester. Strongly coloured amber beer with a reasonable head. The aroma is yeasty with dryness and mild spice. The flavour is dry with gentle bitterness, and a little ginger spice. Overall a nice spiced and bitter / dry beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
