In this northern German style retro altbier, we’ve dialled down the dry-hops to zero, but cranked up the malt to create massive aromas. Toasty, toffee and floral notes duke it out for supremacy in the headspace of your glass.
When this alt hits your palate, the steely bitterness combines with the rich dry malt and the subtle alcohol warmth in a full throttle attack on your taste buds.

Clear, copper colored, medium off white non lasting head. Aroma is malt, caramel, fruits, some toasted notes, overall dirty moldy. Taste is medium- sweet malt, caramel and Munich, toffee, light toasted bread notes, mold, medium hay bitterness, grains. Light to medium bodied, average carbonation.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Clear amber-brown. Aroma of malt, caramel, toast, vegetal notes, and a smoky hint. Sweetish flavor with caramel, toast, faint smokiness, and a bitter finish. Medium-bodied.

Keg at the Grain & Hop Store, Cambridge. Reddish brown and clear, with a bit of whitish head & much lacing. Flowery, woody and earthy smell. Mild but pleasant. Tastes pleasantly bitter underpinned by a sticky malt sweetness. Hop bitterness on the finish. Grows on me. I like it.

Bottle from Beerhunter111, many thanks! Slightly metallic, which is a definite nod to German macro breweries but definitely not to my taste. Sterile, with only some castrated caramel and lots of iron. Meh beer.

Tap at Brewdog Brussels. Poured a clear medium reddish brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is aniseed, grainy mineral. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light watery woody, light perfume palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear amber with an off-white head. Malty, caramellish aroma, vitamin-like, flowery hops. Solid, malty body, very clean with a good, late hop dose. Seems very true to style. 151215
