The Holy Moose has brought about a gathering of Nordic clans; with it comes a berry IPA overflowing with tart citrus flavour.
Cloudberry, lingonberry, blueberry and sea buckthorn meld with citrusy hops in an intensely sweet, fruity and floral aroma, with toasty malt notes and tropical fruit bursts.
This bitter, resinous IPA follows up with a lemony punch in the mouth - cherry and blueberry sourness takes this pithy pale ale in a new direction, before a long, dry finish.
Hops: Amarillo, Chinook, Mosaic

Small white head. Deep red body with visible particles. Resiny fruity wild berry armoa with ripe fruit and sea hawthorn. Wow. Weird. Dryish resiny sea hawthorn and raspberry taste with mealy salty notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel with lumpy bits, feels like remains of berries. Dryish salty wooden ripe fruit aftertaste with herbal notes. More odd than good, in the end. (0.33l bottle, from wine monopoly, Strømmen.)

IPA can assume all kinds of shapes now that it has come to lead its own life and shed all associations with its English pale ale origins - so it should come as no surprise that even a fruit IPA is thinkable, and it is no surprise either that this one comes from BrewDog. Thanks Stefan for sharing the bottle. Loose, thin, off-white, irregular head dissolving almost completely after a while; hazy orangey pinkish, kirr-like colour. Aroma indeed combines dank ’IPA-ness’ with actual (sour) fruit: pink grapefruit, blood orange, some raspberry yoghurt without the sugar, blueberries, hint of dried mushroom, sour cherries (perhaps the loganberries?), dry rosé wine, mouldy orange peel, strawberry, some stale sweat, fermenting hay - an interesting combo for sure. Dry onset with a lot of tart, yet soft fruit sourness with sweet edges, basically a ton of wild berries, but I am incapable of distinguishing between the four different species that went into this; carbonation is medium. Supple, light, bit grainy malt body underneath, only very vaguely sweetish but supporting the dry berry tartness well, with slight yoghurty and even very faintly salty touches here and there; finishes in an earthy, gentle but still citrusy hop bitterness, bit yeasty as well and aromatic, strangely pairing well with the sour berry juice aspect. I did not expect much of this, but I have to admit that for me, the flavors work remarkably well together, though I can imagine this being one of those experimental beers which will divide opinions. Too bad I am insufficiently familiar with the flavor of sea buckthorn berries and cloudberries - but I guess trying to pull out the individual fruit flavors is not really the point here. Weird alright, but pleasant, like many BrewDog creations.

An interesting shade of burgundy. Aroma of tropical fruit hop and sweet berry fruits. Red fruit sweet and sour taste. The bitter finish reminds me of raspberry pits. Is it meant to be a Vimto IPA?
