11.2oz bottle. Chunky, thick brown black with a magnificent beige head. Appearance is a five. Smooth, chocolate cocoa aroma. This is a really awesome Stout. Not dependent on big alcohol tones, this still has quite a lot of depth. This is not as sessionable as the ABV would suggest. Rich, thick, viscous chocolate tones with spicy hop balance. Dry cocoa in the finish. World class stuff, quite impressive.

Bottle at Delirium Café Brussels. Milky, roasty nose. Flavor of dark chocolate, wood, very roasty and dry. Very bitter finish. Nice dry stout, nothing all that special.

Pours deep mahogany into a Sam glass. Careful pour still produces large pancake batter head. Anise and chocolate aromas. Sharp with licorice, burnt toast and soy upfront turning to chocolate milk before the lasting bitter chocolate finish.

Very watery and thin. Aroma of burnt malts. Flavour of malt, treacle and coffee. Shame about the too thin texture.

Opaque black beer. very small tan head. Says it’s a stout but feels more like a robust porter. Tangy with a little roasty malt. Undertone of molasses. No real dryness or bitterness. Drinkable.

Clear dark brown beer with reddish glare, little flakes setting to the bottom of the glass. Light beige thick towering head, adhesive and long lasting. Aroma: coffee, dark roasted malts, wooden touch. MF: lots of carbon, too much actually, light to medium body. Taste: coffee and mocha, bitter red berries. Aftertaste: coffee grit.

Bottle. Pours black with rich mocha brown head. Nose of licorice, chocolate malts, smoke and vanilla. Taste of vanilla, chocolate malts and licorice. Smooth, high quality stout is somewhat predictable, but a pleasure to drink.

At Zythos Beer Festival 2010. Nearly black, thick tan head. Aroma of smoke and roasted chocolate with some burnt espresso. Light bodied. Tasty.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a longlasting off-white head. Has a roasted malty malty sweetish chocolate aroma with some hoppy hints. Roasted malty sweetish chocolate flavor with some bitter hoppy hints. Has a roasted malty chocoalte finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottle. It’s a black beer topped by a small, thick and diminishing tan head. Sweetish, roasted and chocolatey nose, slightly sourish. The flavor is heavy on the roasted malts, quite coffee-like, with fruityness, chocolate and resiny hops. Full-bodied, dry and a bit sourish. Lasting finish, coffee-bitter and a bit hoppy bitter, and surprisingly some alcohol warmth. A nice stout combining sweetness and dryness cleverly. (090523)
