Non filtered, non pasteurised beer with secondary fermentation in the bottle High range stout beer. Food and drinks at the same time Mocha aroma with a subtle touch of sweetness. The slightly roasted and bitter taste makes this stout a very enjoyable drink. Not for just anyone, for beer lovers only.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Wallingatan, Stockholm) Black colour with brief, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with freshly ground black coffee, cocoa and liquorice. Malty, roasted taste with notes of freshly ground coffee, liquorice, cocoa, black-currant, hints of ashes and a generous well roasted coffee bitterness in the finish. Medium body, dry with a soft and rounded mouthfeel. An excellent stout in stunning balance with lots of flavours and an alcohol level that makes it very drinkable. Very nice.

Bottled at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Black, fairly rich beige head. Sweaty black currant aroma. Dryish and soft, salty and somewhat ashy. Packed with flavours, yet mild and gentle. Long salty tobacco finish.

Bottled (CK, BB 03/2009). Dark-brown color, nice cloudy tan head. Aroma of molasses, tobacco, cold coffee and some licorice. Roasted malty, very ashy flavor. FInish is bitterish-roasted. Nice soft and velvety mouthfeel. Just too much ash and tobacco in the flavor for my liking. Otherwise quite ok.

Bouteille: Literally black, presumably hazy with a small beige off-white layer; dark roasted malt, a light sweetness, liquorice and a touch of barnyard in the nose; quite solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; dry roasted, but also sweet finish with some liquorice in the aftertaste. All in all a pleasure, but why must a Stout be sweet.........

Pitch black body with a very thin light-brown head - insanely dark. Aroma of molasses, deep dark roasted malt, oak, cereal and very STRONG vanilla pods. Full-bodied; Strong meaty flavour with molasses, raisins and burnt coffee noticeable. Aftertaste very mild, with malt and burnt sugars in behind. Overall, not very good - perhaps too much dark burnt sugars and not enough other flavours or character to be good. I’m happy to have tried this, just wished it was a bit better. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from the Utobeer Market Stall in Borough (London), England on 29-November-2008, sampled on 01-March-2009 at home in Washington, although I did see this beer also (and two other varieties) at Beer Mania in Bruxelles a few weeks earlier.

33cl bottle at Delirium Cafe. BB 08/08. Pours dark brown with a creamy white head on top. Nose is sweet and nutty. Caramel, yeast and vague roasted notes. Smooth and sweet taste with hints of chocolate. Very simple, yet elegant and tasty.

Bottle(stout) pours thick black with no light passing through at all, medium dark tan head. Looks great. Aroma is definalty that of a stout, I get dark malt, sweet chocolate, and light carmel. Taste is pretty big, low bitterness, more dark malt, smoke, roasted malt, and oat. Mouth is creamy with low carbonation. The flavors are focused more on grain, so this beer is more one dimensional.
