Dragonmead Brewery Final Absolution

Final Absolution

Dragonmead Brewery in Warren, Michigan, United States 🇺🇸

  Belgian Style - Tripel Regular
Score
6.95
ABV: 10.0% IBU: - Ticks: 22
This is the ultimate Belgian style. The very high gravity of this beer is balanced by the smoothness of its finish. Banana and Clove aromas come from the Belgian yeast strain combining with the generous dose of Belgian Candi Sugar. The Saaz hops help to give this beer a balanced bitterness with no noticeable hop aroma. ABV 10.0%

An exercise in overpricing. Poured a fiery copper orange, with a thin off-white head. Estery banana aroma. This tasted like circus peanuts- strong banana flavors (like banana candy) dominated any malt complexity that may have existed. Alcohol was hidden well. A syrupy banana brew, and nothing more. It is my final absolution to never drink this again.

Fairly small white cream head. Super cloudy rusty/orange color. It looked heavy, if thats possible. It delivers a full flavor up front, quite sweet with lots of spices/banana coming through. I wasnt sure if i was drinking a tripel or a wit. Though it has no wheaty taste, tripels arent usually this sweet and round. No astringency whatsoever, and I can hardly believe, reading this now, that it is 10 abv, couldnt tell. Ends with an almost, but not quite, tart peach flavor with plenty of yeast on the palate. The saaz hops are present in the background of this beer, but do not really make much of an appearance. This beer would be wonderful to cellar, but was not cloying, like some notably sweet beers, so was delightful to drink new, just as well.
