2002 was the first vintage, it won a GABF gold in 2003. Utilizes English 2 row and English Crystal malts; hopped with Bullion, Northern Brewer, and Goldings hops.
The 2003 is especially special to brewer Ric Hoffman, as his daughter was born on the second brew day, 10/21/03.
The recipe for all barleywines is relatively the same. We just keep adding more grain.

Glowing ruby copper. Decent head retention. Moderately astringent cherry barley wine, it’s one of those. Flavor has done malt rough texture and still that astringency with cherry. A little soft thick malt st the back end. It’s within my tolerable kevelnof astringency but not worth a repeat.

Draft at the source, 2011 version. Hazy amber color, thin off white head. Aroma of creme brulee. Taste is sweet and intense caramel with a burnt edge. Not bad, but could use a bit more balance.
