Nez de malt rôti, léger de chocolat noir, de houblon herbeux et de café avec des traces de pain brûlé et de mélasse. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen ainsi qu’une texture légèrement crémeuse et aux petites notes huileuses. Léger goût de chocolat noir lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute rapidement un goût de malt rôti aux notes brûlées avec des notes de pain grillé et quelques traces de mélasse brûlée puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère amertume de houblon herbeux aux notes terreuses avec un léger goût de café. Post-goût moyen-long et aux notes sèches, moyen-léger amer de rôti, léger de houblon herbeux aux traces terreuses avec des notes de café et de chocolat noir. (17 avril 2013)

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks zvikar. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Aroma of hops, a bit piney and resinous, roastiness and coffee. Bittersweet roasty flavor with coffee beans, a bit "green", and nice hops bitterness, a bit resinous. Medium-bodied.

Draft @ World of Beer. Pours very dark brown/black color with light brown head. Aromas of roasted malt and pine resin. Resinous pine hop flavor with moderately roasted malts, some chocolate and ashy finish. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation.

Sample at Vintage Estate. Dark brown pour with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malt and hops. Medium body with a roasty malt character and flavors of resiny hops and coffee. The finish is sweet with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Aroma is a but muted, but there are notes of roasted malt and dark fruit esters, especially cherry and plum. There is a fruity hop not with some citrus and tropical fruit followed by a dank resin finish. A touch of a chocolate and molasses aroma as well. Pours a dark black with a small, thick light mocha head that holds its form for quite a bit of time, but eventually recedes to the edges. Flavor starts surprisingly sweet with a lot of fruit - cherries and figs. There is a bit of a chocolate flavor and the roast appears in the finish and lingers. The hops appear mid palate and hold on throughout. Lots of citrus, pine resin and a hint of spice. Very piney which lingers with the roast causing a bit of an astringent, but dry finish. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Astringency is medium low and the alcohol warmth is low. Overall this is an alright beer, but I am not sure that the chosen hops work well with the roast. Perhaps I just don't enjoy super hoppy stouts; it's not the bitterness though but the hop flavor. It pours a dark brown and gives a nice one inch off-white, almost slightly tan head about an inch thick and then gently dies to a half centimeter. It leaves some nice lacing. The smell is hoppy and has some slight coffee notes in the background. The taste is basically the same. The mouthfeel/palate is about a medium, maybe close to heavy, kinda creamy, I like it. Overall, good American Stout that should please the masses as far as Sixpoint puts it out. I’ll get this one again.
