Can from Whole Foods Market, Bowery, New York, NY. A dark amber/brown coloured pour with a thin off white head on top. Sweet, caramel, spice aroma. Tastes similar, quite sweet, caramel, spice. Struggled to finish this one. Expected a lot more from 21st Amendment.

12oz bottle, via trade from someone awesome I’m sure, pours with a clear ruby red to amber body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up lots of spices like ginger and cinnamon and then it gets into some malty sweetness. The taste delivers firm levels of winter spices but the malts and modest degree of molasses help keep the spices from being overwhelming. Pretty nice as slivers of dark roasted malts surface here and there creating another facet to the experience. Overall for this beer the spices could be scaled back a bit to achieve improved balance and flavor harmony. Pretty nice winter beer though.

Can sample at a tasting at Mastikim. Thanks zvikar. Brown color with a beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sweetish flavor, malty, a bit toasty, caramelly, a bit nutty, with some spiciness and a slightly bitter finish, a bit roasty. Medium-bodied.

Saw a review for this online and hoped that it would make it’s way to Japan, luckily I found it online! Another gorgeous can from 21st Amendment via Sugaya. 7.9% winter warmer served in a snifter. A dark cola brown with a light beige head that leaves quickly but makes some minor lacing. The nose is spices all the way with nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon over a chocolate base. The body is creamy med-full with a spicy flavor, straight from the fridge the spicing is somewhat subdued letting roasted bitter chocolate notes through. It’s truly a winter warmer you want to drink by the fireside, each sip gives you slightly different variations on fruity, spicy, earthy dark beers. Quite good.

12 ounce can in to tulip glass, canned on 10/14/2013. Pours lightly cloudy dark ruby red color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big brown sugar, molasses, raisin, prune, ginger, cinnamon, clove, dark bread, light roast, toast, and herbal earthiness. Nice aromas with good complexity of malt, yeast, and spice notes; with good strength. Strength of spices is a bit too much in the nose. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, raisin, cinnamon, ginger, clove, brown bread, light coffee, toast, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, raisin, cinnamon, clove, ginger, brown bread, light coffee, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark malt and spice flavors; with a great malt/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately slick and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice winter warmer style. All around good balance, robustness, and complexity of malt and spice flavors; and very smooth sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

The appearance is a dark brown almost black colored body with a full one and a half finger white foamy head that rises just above the pint glass to mushroom cap a bit, gets a bit foamy but once it starts to die, there is barely any lacing, just some little spots here and there. The smell is quite Brown ale-like as there’s a fair amount of nutty roastiness but has a decent amount of a dried fruit-like substance with some spices coming through in an earthy sort of way, I’m thinking chai and maybe some ginger. The taste is mainly sweet but a decent spicy element includes itself into that same earthy aspect, a lightly spiced (chai/ginger-like) aftertaste, dry finish. Its somewhat easy on the palate. Overall, I say this is a pretty good winter warmer, well worthy of coming back to.

Can at the Night of Garbage, thanks muchly to Leighton - he never stops ratin’, 20/12/13 up his shit load of stairs ! Hazed dark amber with a moderate light beige head. Nose is spiced stewed fruits, pumpkin notes, sweet notes, light woody ring. Taste comprises brown sugars, toffee fudge, caramel, dark fruits. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light bittering presence in the finish. Ok SHV.

Can thanks to Leighton at the Night of Garbage. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is wood, lots of spice, toast, smoke, tangy HP sauce and dark fruit. The taste is earthy, wood, spice, treacle, leather decent bitterness, toast and alcohol warmth. Medium body and fine carbonation. A pretty tasty spiced ale.

The (not so) shit beer tasting at Leightons stratospheric flat. Thanks Leighton. Hazy dark amber beer. Good vibrant-cream coloured head. Palate is light and semi dry. Fine carbontion. Little toffee in the dry malt. Whisper of ginger, mellow spices and lame generic.fruits. Actually comes together well in to a semi finish.
