We could hardly say it more eloquently. Our Limited Edition Aphrodite Ale is ethereal, intriguing and mysterious – as the Goddess Aphrodite must have been. Aphrodite has champagne-like carbonation, much as the foam of the waves of the sea. Plus enchanting flavors with whispers of raspberry and pear, and hints of funk and tartness created by the Brett yeast. The refreshing dryness comes from the unusual combination of Ommegang and Brett yeasts, and incites feelings of love and thirst, though we don't know about lust. Grains of paradise are infused into the nectar, and when poured Aphrodite is crowned with a luxuriously shimmering rose-pink head.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Buy Rite, 2/26/12

Aroma: The nose is sweet and fruit, with lots of raspberry, some yeast, and light tangy notes
Appearance: The pour is a mostly clear reddish-purple color with small, creamy white head
Flavor: The taste is medium (plus) sweet, and there's a decent amount of funky tartness too
Palate: The body is medium, it has a pretty decent mouthfeel, and the carbonation is average
Overall Impression: I thought this was a decent fruit beer. This one was bottled in June 2011, so I thought the brett would be a little more present then it is, but I still found the beer enjoyable.

Diluted cranberry juice color...tart raspberry flavors up front...pear shows up in the nose and mid palate...light bodied with a clean finish that intrigues me to return

Sampled on tap at Fireworks in Arlington. Pours a totally cloudy, basically opaque pinkish purple with a frothy white head. Nose is fairly mild, berry, a little flower pollen. Flavor is fairly simple... raspberry, strawberry, and a little flower pollen. Watery finish. No real tartness, no real malt. Forgettable.

Brick red. Has a pleasent and noticeable but restrained sweet berry presence. Light bready malts, some refreshing tartness, too. Dry finish. Almost like a sour beer for beginners. Good stuff.

Courtesy of hellbilly. It pours a semi opaque dark cherry color with thin near white head. The aroma has smooth rounded sweet raspberry notes, some candy like raspberry sweet / tarts and a modest level of some sort of sourness. The taste is similar with a mix of sweet / tart raspberry candy and moving into a modest tartness and sour lime like notes. It gets a tad salty and earthy into the finish.

Raspberry and boysenberry nose. Hazy crimson colored, medium pink head, no retention. Sour and vegetal, primarily tomatoes but raspberries are obvious as well. Ewww.

On tap at Three Floyds Brewpub, October 21, 2011. Clear reddish with a small head. Refreshing aroma and taste of raspberries, berries and some light notes of yeast. Very sweet and easy to drink, reminded a lot of lemonade but with some funk in it.

Bottle @ home. Maroon/ruby red appearance with a fluffy, pink head. Slightly funky, lightly bretty, raspberry, blackberry, apple fruity, somewhat tart, a touch spicy aroma. Slightly spicy, tart raspberry juicy flavor with a strong bubbly carbonation. Slightly dry finish with a fruit juicy aftertaste. A little disappointing but nothing offensive.
