We could hardly say it more eloquently. Our Limited Edition Aphrodite Ale is ethereal, intriguing and mysterious – as the Goddess Aphrodite must have been. Aphrodite has champagne-like carbonation, much as the foam of the waves of the sea. Plus enchanting flavors with whispers of raspberry and pear, and hints of funk and tartness created by the Brett yeast. The refreshing dryness comes from the unusual combination of Ommegang and Brett yeasts, and incites feelings of love and thirst, though we don't know about lust. Grains of paradise are infused into the nectar, and when poured Aphrodite is crowned with a luxuriously shimmering rose-pink head.

Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Fiery orange-red body, medium clumping cream head. Nose of fruit juice, primarily pear, berries, and white grapes; grassy and dusty with hints of wet socks. Sweet body, forwardly so, with the same fruits noted in the nose, also grassy and moderately tart and cobwebby.

Pours deep orange-tinged brown into a tulip. Pinkish micro head with good retention recedes to coat surface. Sweet summer fruit aromas. Dry with bitter raspberry pit and pear seeds upfront turning slightly sour in the lasting hint of brett finish.

Draught at Toronado. Reddish orange with lace. Big berry nose, nice and juicy. Berry slush flavor, great fruit, fresh and juicy, some alcohol, a bit of dark malt. Sweet, but also tangy. Pureed raspberries all the way. Good, but it kind of wears on you after a while.

750 c&c from The Davis Beer Shop in Davis, CA. Pours hazy ruddy copper with a definitely pinkish creamy head. Aroma seems primarily raspberry. Slight sour note. Med body. Flavor is raspberry with a little funk, it’s sweet but it’s tart. If finishes a little raspberry seed and somewhat earthy. The aroma picks up funk with the head gone. I could wish the flavor was a bit less raspberry, and a bit more brett, but it’s a good drink.

On tap at Proof. Pours a clear ruby with small of white head. The aroma is a sour cherry. Thin mouthfeel with yeast and sour fruit finish. Very refreshing and easy to drink, really enjoyed this fruit beer from Ommegang.
