Funky Gold Amarillo is the second beer in our dry-hopped sour ale series. We took our sour golden ale, Gold, and gave it a heavy dosing of Amarillo hops. The result is a beer that is a mix of tropical fruit and Prairie funk. Notes of peach, orange, white wine, and citrusy brett can be found in the flavor and aroma.

Poured into a teku showing a barely translucent but mostly a deep golden color. The nose shows a refreshing dose of citrusy brett with a lot of sour notes of lemon, mango, and apricot. Good intensity and refreshing. The palate shows good tartness on the beginning and the mids, slightly more tart and obvious than I’d prefer but still alright.Evenly carbonated and medium bodied. Sporadic light notes of apricot.

Draught @ Fermentoren. Pours hazy pale golden with a frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is fruity and funky with crackers, pink grapefruit juice, lemon juice, mango, pineapple, freshly cut grass, pine needles, dry soil, minerals, barnyard and lemon zest. Taste is sour, fruity and funky. Mouthfeel is dry, tart, tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is sour with crackers, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, mango, freshly cut grass, pine needles, minerals, barnyard and lemon zest. Awesome hoppy sour! Just the right amount of sour, funk, oily pine and burstling fruits. Love it!!!
