Funky Gold Amarillo is the second beer in our dry-hopped sour ale series. We took our sour golden ale, Gold, and gave it a heavy dosing of Amarillo hops. The result is a beer that is a mix of tropical fruit and Prairie funk. Notes of peach, orange, white wine, and citrusy brett can be found in the flavor and aroma.

Tap at Fermentoren, Copenhagen. Poured a clear light amber with a round bubbly white head. The aroma is bretty yeast, big zesty citrus. The flavour is moderate sour with a smooth yeast, acid citrus palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

Draught @ Fermentoren. Aroma has citrus, grapefruit, perfume and soap. Flavour has somewhat aggressive sourness, grapefruit, earthy tones and hints of biscuits. Finishes leathery and mouthdrying tart. A leathery citrus overdose.

Pours dark orange with a smooth head. Aroma of floral hops, sourish notes, earthiness and funky yeastiness. Taste is sourish, floral hoppy and tart with loads of funky yeastiness and earthy notes. Finish is funky, sour and earthy with some floral hops and tart berries. Heavily sour and quite extreme.

Bottle #1 at poker I am getting trashed tonight. Hazy gold white head. Nose is flowery and citrus. Tastes amazing of pineapple , stone fruit, grass, perfume, Brett, grass, lemon. Really perfectly tart and delicious.

Bottle from Imazato. Served in a snifter. The initially whiff is amarillo dry hoppy goodness and a cloudy light honey gold with a brilliantly white head of foam. When you dig into the aroma it is a sour funky beast with lemon, funk& wheat. The taste is tart fruity lemon, a bit of chewey light malts & mild hop notes in the semi-dry finish. Very much like a lemonade sour - delicious.

Pint bottle from Tanakaya. Poured into a duvel snifter. Murky honey colored orange with with huge eggshell colored head that dissipates but leaves a nice thin head throughout. Huge passion fruit nose with hints of iyokan, pickled vegetables and white wine vinegar. Thin body with a watery mouthfeel. Great fruit tartness on the palate that really explodes into a dry finish where the white wine vinegar really stands out. Great stuff.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Max’s place. Cloudy pale yellow with a white head. Lovely aroma, funky, a bit farty, with citric hops, some zesty citrus and flowers. Sour flavor, lactic, funky, juicy and fruity, with lots of citric hops. Medium-bodied. Great and really refreshing.

At a tasting, thanks, medium bubbly head, hazy deepish yellow color, funky and white fruit aroma with shrubs and spice amd some sweat coming in later, sour stone fruit flavor with some yogurt and mineral notes. Strong but not piercing sournesss. Enjoyable and very good.

Bottle shared at Anchorage Apr ’15 Tasting: Poured hazy yellow with fluffy white head. Aroma was funky and hoppy. Taste is head on flavorful hops but then it sours and funky medicine. Really didn’t work for me.
