Ale Aged in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels
I awake from a slumber that’s been anything but peaceful. I don’t take kindly to idling and I am anything but neutral. Life has nothing to do with killing time, and the knowledge that months have passed since the onset of my sequestering in this pitch-black oaken tomb (albeit a barrel flush with brilliant aromas of vanilla and char) does not sit well. But then comes a tingle followed by rejuvenating warmth, signs that something is different…something has changed…and for the better.
I feel stronger yet somehow more nimble and refined. I feel even more self-assured, and my vision for what is good and right, honest and true, is as laser-sharp as the brawny, bawdy, liquid Arrogance that shall further advance my battle against all things mediocre and geared toward the lowest common denominator. I have been born anew and, in the process, anointed with vibrant, inspiring, previously unexperienced character, all while maintaining everything I am and have always been—bold, bullish, unadulterated, and yes, Arrogant.
Are you Worthy of quaffing a beverage of this intensity, irreverence and quality craftsmanship? Not likely, but for those who “get it,” I know my time in this bourbon barrel has not been wasted. Cheers to you, enlightened imbiber. On second thought, cheers to me!

12 ounce bottle. Deep reddish copper color topped by a large rocky beige. Big toasted malt nose has obvious oaky notes. Flavor is bittersweet toasted malt with lots of oak and resiny hops. Hints of bourbon and brown sugar in midtaste. Dry bitter finish has boozy notes. Quite nice.

Bottle from AA. Citrus hop and caramel malt nose, light bourbon, a tiny pinch of wood, some vanilla. Also raisins, baked apples, treacle. This was not straight from the barrel, I suppose, but only a small %. Definitely mellower than the usual AB. Brown with orange tints and a low head. Rich and malty, fudge, treacle, baked fruits. Rich and mellow, but still with a nice hop character and a bitter finish. Not all that much bourbon, really. Finish is a bit too bitter. Silky, not heavy. Nice.

330 ml bottle at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Clear dark ruby copper color with beige head. Malty aroma, bourbon, fruity, coconut, dark dried fruits, vanilla, wood, some chocolate notes, caramel, light alcohol. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Light to medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Clear deep red to purple beer, creamy irregular beige head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweet, caramel, some vanilla, malty, banana. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet start, vanilla, caramel, bourbon, bit sugary, very bitter hops. Aftertaste: some banana, vanilla, very bitter, boozy touch, more banana, resinous, very chewy hops. Wow!

12 oz bottle from Sparrow, 1/3/16. Amber pour with a small head and drippy, spotty lacing. Bourbon aroma. Grapefruit as well. Caramel and toffee notes. But of toast. Just in general has a lot going on malt wise. Strong flavor of bourbon and bitterness. A bit fruity. Feels slightly sticky, not too hot, and with a dry finish. Not what I expected necessarily, but interesting and solid for sure. Maybe a hint muddled, but otherwise I enjoyed it.

Bottle from Legacy Liquor, Vancouver
Mahogany color, cloudy, with creamy beige head. The aroma comes with a whiff of Bourbon. A stronger and maybe sweeter body was expected; the malts are non deScriptive, there is some dark caramel and some roastiness, strong bitterness, and maybe some barrel.
Doesn’t live up to expectations; not a bad beer, but it’s quite boring, I’m happy it came in 12oz bottles.

Draught at BeerTemple. Thick, creamy, egg-white, dense head, clear deep bronze colour. Lovely and fascinating aroma of vanilla tannins, bourbon, white pepper, dried flowers, dried apricot, sherry, fried onion, strawberry wine. Crisp, fruity onset with hints of mango, lychee, orange peel, full and smooth creamy mouthfeel, caramelly and toasted maltiness turning increasingly bitterish and supported by peppery, citrusy aromatic hop bitterness, quite a lot of indeed very bourbon-like alcohol and lovely, well-dosed woody tannins. Delicious Stone beer in all respects, in all quite different from the equally delicious regular version so this really adds something to the range, I think.

@Bottleshare avond met @MaartenRF10 mooie koper rood/bruin met beperkte kraag. aroma van graan, mout, zoet, alcohol. smaken zijn wat aan de dunne kant voor een BA bier, tevens vind ik het redelijk bitter voor een barley wine, graan, alcohol, matig zoet, rozijn, kandij suiker/bruine suiker. niet echt gebalanceerd bier...
