To call C-Note very hoppy would be an understatement. It’s brewed with the seven "C" hops (Crystal, Cluster, Cascade, Chinook, Centennial, Columbus and Challenger) and pushes the bitterness limit to 100 International Bitterness Units.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Pours reddish copper with a think tan head. So much citrus/floral hop that the roast malt is nearly hidden. Medium body with creamy carbonation. The flavor is lush hop. Floral, citrus, maybe a touch of resin, and there’s roast malt underneath. A slight hop burn in the finish. This is a really good one.

22oz bottle-pours a foamy to rich tan head that laces and dark copper color. Aroma is nice sweet pine/citrus-grapefruit. Taste is very dry, quite bitter pine/resin/citrus-grapefruit hops, puckering. A palate killer that was mostly raw hops at the beginning. Half way through the pint, it still had its raw edge but was quite enjoyable, although the balance scale seemed 6 parts hops 1 part malt. Great beer. Although no way a session beer. Thanks to skourtis for this trade with jwc215 & me.

Draught @ the brewpub. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Has a malty very hoppy pine aroma with hints of grapefruit. Malty hoppy bitter pine and grapefruit flavor. Sweetish malty very hoppy bitter pine finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

On tap at New/Old Lompoc on NW 23rd Avenue, Portland. Hazy copper colour, lasting off white head. Sweet sherbert hop aroma. Rose petal fruit in mouth. Malt is ok. But is then overtaken by this huge mix of sherberty sweet hop. Not astringent nor overly bitter, but just extreme sherbert. Some grapefruit. Finish starts as beer begins. Just way too hoppy. Nice rose petal and grapefruit though.

Cloudy amber. Woody, grapefruity, leafy aroma. Moderate bitterness. Lots of toasty, caramelly malts and chewy, woody hops. Not bad, but a bit too much crystal malt for my liking.

Draught pint at Redbones on 12/3/05. Very cloudy, deep rufous-mahogany with a ruddy-tan hue on the edges and a very well-retained off-white head that sits at half a finger throughout the whole glass. Lacing is complete and perfect down the glass in rings. Aroma shows dry, soily, lightly citric and floral hops with toasted malt and light toffee. Black pepper and very fresh, yet dry american ale yeast pour off the top. The flavor combines the fresh yeast (isnt yeast great?) with very dry toasted grains, light touches of orange rinds and mild cherries. Soily, earthy malt and touches of light toffee. Very unique hop profile provides, at times, oranges and vanilla, and at other times soily, damp earth, with brown tea leaves and light bitterness. Yeast works all the while and the creamy, unfiltered texture is soothing. While the malt sweetness is fairly minimal and only comes out on the end, after warming, the hop schedule, mouthfeel and yeast apparency really support the experience. No alcohol apparency.
