Pours a dark, cola black, with smallish tan head that rapidly dissipates. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, but, surprisingly, not much maple syrup. Flavor is rather bitter--again, I was surprised by how much so. This isn't the sweet, maple stout I was expecting. Bitter chocolate and coffee, some dark fruit, a touch of maple syrup, but also some cardboard and leather in there. Has a pretty bitter finish, too.

12 ounce can. After a vigorous pour, an opaque black color is topped by a dense creamy tan head. Roasted malt nose. Hints of licorice, maple, espresso beans and toasted walnuts. First sip is sweet roasted malt, maple syrup, dark chocolate and black cherries. Rich and flavorful with complex roasty notes. Finishes with notes of molasses and bittersweet chocolate.

Black coloured. Roasted malts, massive chocolate, quite bitter. Heavy bodied, finish is of black pure chocolate.

12oz can pours an oily, opaque black with lots of mocha head. Big nose, malt and toast and cracked grains, there's a deep candy sugar thing that feels more Belgian than maple, burnt toffee. Flavor has that candy feel, maple now too, malt, heavy black licorice, raisinette, some prune even. Full bodied, sticky finish.

Maple coffee, a tad too sweet in the end.

Can thanks to Ken - pours black with a thin tan head. Dark sweet and roasted malty, some smooth chocolate, sticky sweet maple chiming in, full body, ashy charred and sweet maple malty finish. Went down a treat.
