0.5l bottle. Black body with a huge but quickly collapsing light brown head. Aroma of cholate, white pepper, lemon zest, berries and grapes. Taste of chocolate, coffee, grapes, grapefruit, pepper and a huge amount of floral hops. Medium bodied with high carbonation. Spicy, funky, fruity and hoppy at the same time, yet goes down easily (a dangerous characteristic for a beer with 7.9% ABV). Very nice beer.

Dang this is nice, I never expected a dark saison would work this well. The base seems somewhat schwarzbier like, but its got a nice bretty funk, floral hopping, cheese, leather, goat, mild semi-dry malts, nutty, maybe roast but not really. Nice easy finish, low carbonation is just right.

0,5 litre Bottle from Vinmonopolet Hamar. Almost Black with offwhite head. Sour, Woody, hops and malt aroma and taste. Too sour, something wrong with This Bottle? Not Good!

Deep, pitch black coloured body with a slightly clear glow towards the bottom, still about 95% opaque. All of that with a thick, five centimetre tall light brown head that tops the beer very nicely. Aroma of yeast, dry funk, grasses, floral and herbal notes and a big dose of tart fruits near the end. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and herbal notes, all with a bitter malt backbone showing some earthy and dry malt flavours and finishing with a ton of yeast flavours. Aftertaste has quite a bit of dry and earthy flavours with a big grassy finish along with a bunch of musty, basement-y funk throughout and an elegant hop profile near the end that leaves no bitterness, but some mellow perfumey notes. Overall, quite a pungent and earthy black Saison with some good flavours, but a bit too one-sided and simplistic, especially from this brewery. Definitely not worth the premium price for this one and definitely not worth trying to find unless you love Black Saison's or can't find any other options. Again, I can't understand how reputation ratings go so highly, but people love certain labels on the front of their beers. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased on 01-October-2017 for US$8,49 at BeerTopia in Omaha, Nebraska, sampled in my hotel room here in Omaha, Nebraska on 04-October-2017.

. Il gusto al naso finisce sullo speziato. L'intensità olfattiva è elevata e la persistenza olfattiva è apprezzabile. Il cappello è di schiuma abbondante. Le bollicine sono fini. La carbonazione è abbondante. Il colore è scuro impenetrabile. Il corpo è strutturato. Il dolce è medio. L'amaro è medio. L'acido è leggero. L'aspro è leggero. L'intensità gustativa è elevata e la persistenza gustativa è buona. Il finale è bruschino. Il retrogusto è intenso. L'aroma in bocca riporta sentori di etilico e pipì di gatto.

Keg at Ratebeer Best Beer Festival. 31/01/2016. A murky brown coloured pour with a lasting light tan head. Aroma is tangy, pine, apple, some grapey fruits. Flavour is composed of woody yeast bite, pine, wood, light bretty funk, Palate is yeasty, dry, highish carbonation. Not a big fan of this.

Draught@CBC Blue Session 2016. Black colour, minor head. Aroma is fruity, floral, some citrus and mild chocolaty and yeasty notes to it. Flavour is citrus, fruity, some yeasty and mild toasted sweetish notes. Nicely balanced and wellworking dark saison.

500ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Hamar. Solid tan-coloured foamy head fading over a dark brown coloured body. Clingy lacing. Aromatic with juniper and pine. Comprehensive taste profile of wood, brett, pine needles and juniper, slightly vinous impression. Sweet and tart ending. Fine bodied. Refreshing, just a little bit unvaried.
