500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/29/2015. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, peppercorn, pine, chocolate, toasted bread, light cocoa, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate roast/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, peppercorn, pine, chocolate, toasted bread, light cocoa, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Moderate amount of peppery yeast spice and light pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, peppercorn, pine, chocolate, toasted bread, light cocoa, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate roast/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from carbonation and yeast spiciness as well. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice hoppy dark saision style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate roast/bready malt flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
