This malt-balanced beer starts on a caramel note in deep copper hues. The malt is balanced with subtle hopping. The name comes from 19th Century Scotland categorization with 80 shilling being a premium priced beer with greater malt.

Soiled diaper, elderberry nose. Clear tea, medium tan head. Same soiled diaper, dried leaves. Light body, soft carbonation. Kind of gross.

4 oz pour on draft at Mad Fox. Clear amber with off-white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, malt. Tastes of caramel, malt. Medium body with a dry finish.

On draft at the brewery. Oakes version. Pours slmost clear dark brown with a feint off white head. Mild toffee aroma. Vanilla and caramel. Clean finish.

Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a hazy brown color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of toffee, berries and earthy notes. The taste is toffee, berries, earthy notes, apple. Medium bodied.

Cask. Dark chestnut, small but thick head. Subtle aroma, maybe caramel. Taste has moderate spice, maybe cinnamon and allspice.

From sampler. Poured a dark ruby color with a small head. Aroma is malty, with a good dried fruit character. Nice bitterness accentuated the beer enough to make this a pretty mild brew. This a pretty decent brew.
