12 oz. bottle. Pours copper with a thin tan head. Smells of caramel, pine, and apples. The flavor is very sweet, with a nice spicy and lightly bitter finish. The palate is medium, chewy, and a little clingy. Overall, this is a good beer, with a good flavor and nice malty finish.

12 oz bottle into dimpled mug. Pours clear copper with a medium off-white head with pretty nice retention. Aroma is stinky grain, metal, a hint of caramel and maybe cinnamon. Taste is lightly sweet and faintly bitter; graininess in the finish. Thin-bodied with medium carbonation. Not bad exactly, but pretty plain.

Something has gone horribly awry with this brew. The malts have a heavy, saccharine awfulness that takes their dark German soul and twists them into something funky and cloying and awful. Fizzy and thin, light-orange and cheap-looking, this bottle marks the worst Oktoberfestbier I’ve come across yet. (9/08)

12oz bottle pours brilliant clear deep copper with weak loose tan head. The meek aroma is faintly spicy, earthy and yeasty. The taste begins with vague spices and then picking up winter like spices and then growing richer and richer with varied maltiness. I get a mix of malts, caramel malts, mild graininess and a sense of biscuit to earthiness. It ends with sweet malts and a touch of spices.

Free bottle in the United lounge at Dulles airport. Ordinary from start to finish. Astringent bitterness and not much else.

Bottle. Poured a golden amber with an off-white head. Aroma was full of malts with grain, hay and cereal notes. Flavor was one note malt throughout, mainly grain.

Bottle. Small, fizzy head, off-white, almost fully diminishing. Amber body. Weak aroma of caramel, grain with just a hint of flowers. Slightly sulphuric. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The finish is lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Not much character, especially for an Oktoberfest. Grainy, unrefined malt profile. Not much going on here.

Tinny malt aroma with a hint of cinnamon. Clear orange, no head. Flavor is of medium roasted malts and perhaps some dried leaves.

Overall Impression: This was a decent beer, didn’t really taste like a typical Oktoberfest beer almost more like a pale specifically for autumn or something. Kind of a lightness to it, drinkable beer, reddish-orange color, and you can taste a little caramel.
