(On tap @ WVRST, Toronto, Jan 6 2016) Pours black with an average whitish head and no lace. Aroma sweetish dark malts, a bit of grain with caramel and raw sugar, roasty, dry, subtle smoke and oxidation notes. Flavour is lightly sweet dark malts with some toffee, oxidation, light soy and smoky roast. Finish is fairly dry with roasted grains, slight coffee tones, a bit bitter but with some lingering sweetness. Lightish body with lighter carb. It’s a fairly decent, dry sort of Baltic porter but it doesn’t totally click for me - I just keep wanting something more than is really there.

On tap at St Augustine's, pours black with a reddish tinge and a small tan head. Aroma brings out notes of vanilla, some roast, and cocoa. Flavour is similar but less pronounced and complex, with roast and a touch of vanilla. Not overly interesting. Medium bodied and unflawed, but fairly boring.

Pours a dark brown colour with slight copper highlights. The head is big, warm beige-coloured, goes down very slowly leaving some creamy-foamy lacing. Sharp aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, apples, alcohol, with hints of licorice, herbs and nuts. That sharpness is also present in the taste with the grassy hops and roasted malts, but it smooths down in the middle showing some coffee and apples. So, more on the apples side of things, than dark fruits that I am use to with porters. Nice coffee lingering. Stout like ? Still, I quite like this beer.

Bottle: Poured a clear black color stout with a medium size brown foamy head with OK retention and light lacing notes. Aroma of black chocolates with light roasted malt notes is OK. Taste is a mix of black chocolates notes with light residuals sugar notes and dry roasted malt notes. Body is too thin for the style with good carbonation. Not bad but falls a bit short on character.
