A fermenting beer never slumbers. Consequently, there is always scattered activity tending our precious beers throughout the dark hours. In these late nights and wee hours that hallowed responsibility falls to the shoulders of the overnight Brew Crew. These brewing soloists brave the long nights, often alone, to do what needs to be done. Most areas of the brewery are dark or in shadows. Throughout the night the cellars resonate with the occasional knocking of expanding and contracting pipes. It can be a bit spooky to hear the brewery creak and groan as if possessed by a spirit randomly knocking about with a mallet. This IPA, liberally hopped with Loral™, honors our intrepid overnight team by naming it after their mischievous poltergeist companion – the Ghost Hammer.

12 oz can from Brewers Haven. Deep golden pour with a small, tight creamy head. Aroma brings caramel malts ith a light astringent edge. Taste starts with more caramel malts before turning to resinous, piney, juniper hops. All around solid IPA.

Can from Holiday Market. Pours a clear gold with a finger of white foam that slowly dissipates. Floral hop aromas with some honeydew melon, cantaloupe and a touch of booze on the nose. Clean and crisp with some resinous, dank flavors mid-palate. A punch of piney bitterness on the finish with soft stone fruit flavors. Bitter, pithy finish.

On tap at Både&. It pours a hazy golden colored body under a two-finger white head. The aroma is piney and grassy, with a herbal licorice touch and some citrus zest. Pleasant maltyness in the back. The flavor is pretty much the same, with a nice bitterness. Pine cones, resins, grapefruit, herbal notes, some licorice, bread and a little malty sweetness. Full body and a nice carbonation level. Lasting hop driven finish with an underlying maltyness. Sort of old fashioned or unusual, but nice. 190807
