Very much a standard lager, I had this straight from the can. Bland but good very cold on a warm day.

Bottle from shigadeyp; nose of graininess and sweet; pale gold, medium white head; flavor is graininess and corn with a little hops showing in the finish.

Bottled. Actually much better than most the usual mega lagers. Slightly darker than expected. A nice sweet malty taste. Still falls into the "Oo-oo-ooh, hops are too scary for me" territory, but basically okay.
Another bottle, sampled 8/11/05: I’m starting to find the Leinie brands a little more fun than I thought. This is kind of corny, but not overly sweet like most cheap beers, and there is a bit of hop bitterness. As many raters here have attested, they tend to rate higher when drinking it under the right circumstances: who’s going to be sampling Westy 12 on a pontoon in Lake Okoboji?

Light golden color. Lots of bubbles. Thick head. Standard lager taste with a little hops. I don't know why this is rated a 3; there just isn't much there to enjoy. Bad chemical finish makes this hard to drink if it is not ice cold. --- Beer merged from original tick of Leinenkugel's Original on 03 Aug 2018 at 20:36 - Score: 1

Fairly pale golden color with minimal head. Aroma moderately hopped with notes of citrus, flowers, grass - although to say I’m getting that much complexity out of such a restrained aroma is a bit much. Settles into a tart musty, almost orangey aroma. Very little up front, just a bare hint of malt, transitioning into a fairly strong, and pretty unbalanced, hoppy finish. This beer might work well as a lawnmower beer when really cold and drunk out of the bottle. If you pour it and pay attention to it, its just not going to be worth your while. As it warms (just a little) there’s a corny sweetness that arises just a tad. I get a general "pre-proh" lager feel out of this one.
