The appearance has a nice rich malty red looking body with a huge lumpy foamy white head that rises above the pint glass and once it dies after a good minute it sinks to a valley of lumpy white goodness.
The smell is based around caramel malts with some bitterness but to me it seems like its just bitterness for the sake of bitterness.
The taste has some dried caramel malty flavoring - to me this doesn’t really show much in the taste. There is super dry caramel aftertaste that leads to a very dry finish.
On the palate, she sits about a medium on the body, and tries to show a sessionable quality that ends up in the end not being as sessionable as one might hope but still not exactly a sipper either.
Overall, this is mostly a weird beer that I’m unsure if I can really grasp. For the most part, I think I’d only have again if fresher or on tap.

Bottle, 22oz. It’s a copper colored beer, clear, and with a thick, off-white head. It’s mostly hoppy on the nose, citrus and pine cones, with a solid shot of caramel. The flavor is nicely bitter, not too sweet, with the same food ratings found in the aroma. Full body, semi-dry, ands with a pleasant carbonation. Lasting finish. A really fine brew. 130805

Pours clear amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, buscuit, citrus and pine. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long caramel, buscuit and bitter finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle: Poured a reddish brown with a creamy light brown tan head. Nice mixture of hops and malts in the aroma, they seemed to pull my senses in both direction. Taste is a nice sweet dark malts upfront but had a equally hops bite in the finish.

Sample at the Tap House Grill in Seattle. Clear copper-red color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, citrus and sweet malt. Medium body with a grapefruit hops character and notes of toasted malt, caramel and earth. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating(got this very recently though). Pours fairly crystal clear reddish copper color with a nice 2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, orange, caramel, pine, herbal, floral, pineapple, bread, toast, and honey. Very nice aromas with nice strength and malt/hop balance. Taste of grapefruit, orange, caramel, pineapple, biscuit, pine, toast, floral, herbal, and light honey. Fair amount of pine/citrus bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, pine, caramel, herbal, bread, toast, and honey on the finish for a good bit. Great balance of flavors; with just enough hoppiness to let the malt profile shine through, and yet it is still a very hop forward brew. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Very smooth to sip on. Overall this is an excellent imperial red! Very nice hop flavor profile and complexity, with great malt balance. Really enjoyed this one.

Tap. Pours clear deep reddish-brown with a small tan head and good lacing. Aroma is malty, not much hops presence. Taste is also toasted malt, light resinous hop notes, but with the hops really coming in only to provide a bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel is the best part of this otherwise average beer.
