Pull on your wool socks and crack open a 2° Below Ale. This tasty winter warmer started life as a small batch beer brewed for the Al Johnson Uphill Downhill – a telemark ski race in Crested Butte, Colorado. The Uphill Downhill celebrates the exploits of Al Johnson, letter carrier extraordinaire, who delivered mail by ski in the late 1800’s. Dry hopping during fermentation creates a floral nose with a hint of pepper and spicy, subtle undertones. 2° Below provides a bright, hoppy palate and a cheery warm afterglow.

Bottle. Pours copper, decent size white head. Nose is all hops, very bright hops. Taste the barley right away, finish is hops. Decent. Agree with other reviews, really don’t see this as an ESB.

Bottle poured a light cleay orange/amber witha nice lasting white head. Aroma and flavor imediately reminded me of NB’s very popular Fat Tire. Very obvious biscuity bready malt flavor. This one though was clean, lighter and more hoppy flavor and bitterness. Interesting.

Bottle: Pours a very clear copper color with a small white head. Aroma is a bit malty, with some floral and spice tones. Taste is full of bitters from floral hop and citrus hop tones, a little grassy, roasted malt, and some spices are present. Complex brew with a nice smoothness.

Golden-amber colour. Fresh, spicy hop (Mt Hood?...guess I was wrong there...I’m stunned...) character with hints of breadcrust. Light character - an amber with hints of caramel and the same spicy hop. Decent if unadventurous brew, complemented a corned beef sandwich well, too, when the food came.

Draft. Amber/copper color with a nice off-white head. Rich malt aroma with some cocoa. Flavor has some malt, toffee, and a bit of cocoa. Body is a little wattery.
