22 ounce bottle into tulip, 2011 bottle. Pours slightly hazy reddish orange color with a dense 2 finger light khaki head with great retention that reduces to a fairly thick lacing cap. Some fairly thick lacing clings to the glass as well. Aromas of huge caramel sweetness, orange, grapefruit, pine resin and a bit of pineapple; with a bit of alcohol. Decent aromas but not what I was hoping for. Taste of big caramel, pine resin, orange, grapefruit, and spiciness. Big amount of bitterness on the finish, as expected, that lingers for a while with citrus, pine, and caramel flavor. Fairly full bodied with medium carbonation; with a slick and sticky mouthfeel. Well balanced with bitterness and sweetness. Alcohol is fairly well hidden for being almost 10%, but the big warming on the finish lets you know it’s there. Definitely a sipping beer, not drinkable at all, but that was expected. Overall, a very nice DIPA to be enjoyed very slowly.

On tap at Stags Head. This beer smells so amazing. Its a huge fruit hop bomb of aromas that is just terrific. tastes of delicious sweet grapefruit, piney hops, earth, caramel with just enough bitterness. really really good

Bomber. Clear, amber body. Frothy, off-white head, slowly diminishing. Light aroma of caramel, toasted grain, orange, citrus, leaves, alcohol and honey. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, creamy texture with average carbonation. I expected a big burst of juicy hop aroma, but found the nose to be muted for a iipa. The aroma also had a sweet syrupy smell that didn’t work well with the caramel or orange. The flavor is nice in the beginning, but finishes overly husky, sweet and alcoholic.

Kinda boring DIPA. Pine/citric, pineapple, floral and grassy notes in the nose, though not nearly as intense as hoped for. Fairly boozy for the style. It’s not the sweetest DIPA around, but it leans that way and the light malt notes come through too strongly in the taste for me. Finishes a bit paint thinner bitter and boozy. It wasn’t as bad as my review seems to be suggesting, but I tried it against some excellent West Coast DIPAs, so I’m feeling kinda biased. Mouthfeel could be a bit lighter. Ok to good.

Bottle. This is a real hop treat! Oliy, big bodied. It’s got sweetness of raisin and some real bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottle. One word is enough: hops! Not bad at all. Fruit, bitter, sweet, caramel, soap. Medium carbonation, long bitter aftertaste. Very drinkable.

22oz bottle-pours a pours a big shaving cream off white head that laces and copper color. Aroma is resin/perfumy, secondary medium malt-some caramel. Taste is sweet/syrupy medium malt-caramel/toffee, resin/tea, slight pepper hops bite. Tingles on the tongue, some alcohol.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Whole Foods - Bowery, 10/30/09
Aroma: The part of the aroma that stands out is a lot of citrus fruitiness, along with some resiny hops.
Appearance: It pours a nice looking caramel-orange color with a thick, foamy tan head and lots of lace.
Flavor: This beer is quite sweet and fruity up-front with a nice hop bite that starts subdued, but grows as it warms.
Palate: The mouthfeel on this beer is fairly creamy with a medium body and some back-end alcohol burn.
Overall Impression: I thought this beer was pretty good. I got a lot of citrus in the nose (which was to be expected from the name), and gave off a nice impression of what might be coming next. At first, the flavor was a little sweeter then I was expecting without quite the hop bite I might have guessed, but as the beer warmed just a bit the hops really came out. Eventually, I got a big fruity/citrus flavor up-front with a powerful hop backing that just really shows up more and more as the beer opens.

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Golden amber colour with brief, off-white head. Fruity, slightly malty nose with dried apricots and floral hops. A bit closed. Fruity, malty, hoppy taste with dried apricots, grainy malt and generous doses of grapefruit and piney hops in a long, bitter, dry finish. Medium body, actually lighter than the abv would suggest, and mainly dry. Overall that makes a beer that goes down easier than the alcohol level indicates. Very nice and tasty, deceptively drinkable.

Bottle from Archer Liquor. Pours copper with a nice bubbly white head. Strong aroma of resin. Near full in body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is like a hoppy barley wine - seems more citrus/floral but then resin kicks in. There’s a malt backbone as strong as one in a barley wine. This is just exceptional stuff, and it’s likely underrated. Finishes almost florally bitter, not at all harsh, but it’s really bitter. Did I mention it’s bitter? Well it is. Definitely.
