Capped 750 from Bine & Vine. Pours dark brn/blk with a slight, transient tan head. Aroma of slightly burnt dark malt, maybe some alcohol, and definitely coffee notes. And chocolate. Full bodied. Flavor seems coffee, moving towards chocolate, with some smooth toasted/burnt malt. It all coalesces quickly into a fairly complex flavor mix. Not dry, but definitely not sweet. Has a bitter which could be burnt malt or hop. Finishes pretty tasty, with dark chocolate primary and weasel following along. Good drink.

Keg at the taproom, 13/11/14. Black with a decent tan covering. Nose is light roast, chocolate, coffee tones, mineral notes, light metallic trace. Taste comprises coffee, brown sugars, spice, chocolate, earthy roast. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok coffee impy, doesn’t carry a great deal of depth but an enjoyable easy drinker.

On tap @ Encinitas Ale House, December 2012. Color: more or less black. Not much (beige) head. Aroma’s: roasted malts, chocolate, coffee/mocha, with some funkiness retronasal. Flavor: medium sweet, roasted, coffee, some acidity. Medium bodied. High carbonation. Finishes roasted, ash, somewhat dry, medium bitter, chocolate. Maybe not that original anymore, but quite tasty.
