As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest, and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.

As advertised, this is a multi-faceted hop forward double. It starts with a pungent hoppy nose, fresh and zesty. All the expected hop elements are there -- citrus, tropical fruit, pine and grapefruit. The malt is understated but balancing. A touch of grassiness and a hint of juicy grapes completes a very tasty double IPA.

The IPA is strong with this one. It's good, but I don't know if I would have picked it up if it wasn't for the badge.

Can (7.0% ABV). Deep golden body with lots of flecks beneath a thin off-white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of pine and burnt orange. Flavour of caramel and pine. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. I love these amber coloured, high IBU American IPAs.

can. pours dark orange, orange head. wow. dark. Aroma not as strong as I had expected. Pine and grapefruit. Very high bitterness, some aromatic and some just herbal hoppy bitter. Bitterness is quite tasty but off the charts, the bitterness is mostly like grapefruit flesh, only perhaps a bit more bitter. nice malty base that does not get in the way of the agressive but still aromatic and rounded bitterness. A great sipper IIPA

Foamy white stayed on a slowly carbonating dark amber body. Malt, pine & citrus aroma. Medium bodied, sharp with a softer cloying back. Malt, citrus, hoppy, caramel & line tastes with a bitter grapefruit finish. Excellent

Can. Deep golden color, Marmelade and floral notes in the aroma. Malty yet dry, floral, slightly perfumed flavor with a tobacco aftertaste. Firmly hopped.

Can. Light amber pour. Aroma of resinous hop, pine, grapefruit, amber malt, peach and a little pineapple. Taste has sticky resinous hop, pine, bitter grapefruit, peach, amber malt, pineapple, citrus and a little caramel. Nice classic bitter west coast IPA. I like it.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of malt, hops, and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of lemons, straw, pine needles, leading to a bitter finish
