A black beer brewed with roasted barley malt and challenger hops. Then freshly ground Arabica coffee beans, blended especially for Dark Star, are added to the copper for a few minutes after the boil to provide a rich and complementary coffee aroma. NOT EVERYONE’S CUP OF TEA!

Bottled 500ml (K-Kamppi)
Dark brown, almost opaque color, good creamy brown head, lace. Nose is strong black coffee, quite ashy. Light body. Coffeish, toasted malty, quite tobacco ashy. Coffee beans give also slightly vegetably flavor. Decent, but I suppose that Dark Star’s cask version is better than this bottled one.

Bottle. Black - clear dark brown at the edges - with a small light tan head that last well. Modest aroma of coffee, chocolate, grass. Taste has mild roast, grass, cocoa and lots of rather nice coffee. Mild roasted bitterness at the end. A little too fizzy. Not much stout, but nice coffee and not much sweetness.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Opaque, dark brown pour with a light tan head. Bitter espresso and dark malt aroma. Flavor is really dominated by coffee grounds, with light sweetness and roastiness. Light to medium in body. I like the finish a bit more than the flavor. There’s a bit more malty sweetness here and the coffee flavor smooths out a bit. Lightly roasty with justs hints of ashy bitterness. Nice beer.

50cl bottle. Poured black color with a foamy white head. Aroma is fresh coffee and toasted malt, mostly coffee though. Lovely aroma already from just opening the bottle. Flavor is more coffee with some chocolate. Bit one dimensional and thin, very easy to drink. Could well try it again.

Bottle: Poured a clear black color stout with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of medium dry coffee notes is well balance with some roasted malt. Taste is dominated by a nice aromatic coffee with balanced mix between dry and bitter notes. Light black chocolate notes are also noticeable. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Well done and easily drinkable.

Drucken på flaska. En len, rund, fin stout med kaffefinish. Inte särskilt tung, men väldigt välavägd med precis lagom mycket kaffe att balansera choklad och rostadmalt smakerna.
