A black beer brewed with roasted barley malt and challenger hops. Then freshly ground Arabica coffee beans, blended especially for Dark Star, are added to the copper for a few minutes after the boil to provide a rich and complementary coffee aroma. NOT EVERYONE’S CUP OF TEA!

Bottle shared. Thanks Shuichi! Big and bold espresso and roasted coffee notes up front and dominate throughout, but a bit of dark chocolate as it warms. Light body and easy drinking, really tastes like a coffee at room temperature and the mouthfeel is really nice. Finish is roasty but clean. Amazing for 4.2 percent.

Pours an almost black colour with a mocha head, good retention and some creamy lacing. Roasted malt aromas with some nice coffee. The flavours shows more the coffee over the roasted malts with hints of chocolate. Seems watered-down, because of the low alcohol content, but overall, a nice coffee stout.

0,5l bottle at home courtesy of Cuso, big thanks. No obvious BB date. black color, small coffee-colored head. smells of coffee, bitter herbs, quite roasty, some bitter chocolate, light licorice, hints of vanilla. nice smell. light to medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of licorice, vanilla, light roast, some bitter herbs, coffee grounds, hints of chocolate, light fruit notes. finishes rather watery towards the finish, with some roast and notes of bitter herbs, some licorice and light vanilla notes. decent one, not a fan of vanilla so gets a bit of a penalty for that, but overall enjoyable, finish is a bit watery though. plus points for the low ABV.

Bottle thanks to Lorna. It pours near black with a small beige head. The nose is rich roast, bitter - sweet, espresso coffee, cacao nibs and burnt treacle. The taste is smooth, bitter, rich roast, coffee, touch of cracked black pepper, touch of acidity and dark chocolate with a dry finish. Light -medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Perhaps a touch thin, but it is a respectable coffee stout nonetheless.

Bottle. Nose of chocolate, nuts, coffee. Rather light malt character, nutty espresso and cocoa flavor. A bit thin.
