With roasted and smoked malts, this robust beer is ideal for long evenings. Yet there are also aromatic hops in the beer and notes of wood. Delicious with the stew.

Clear dark amber brown colour, two finger lasting frothy tan head, recedes slowly to a thick layer, good lacing. Aroma rather shy, lightly smoked malts, cocoa, caramel, bit woody, hint vanilla. Smooth taste, moderate sweet, roasty light bitter, smoky, chocolate. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, mild smoky aftertaste with lingering bitterness, sweet caramel notes, some oak. Very good subtle smoked bock, very good.

Dark brown with small off-white head. Amok and ash, roasted grains and some nuts, sour red berries, juniper, pine and light touch of rotten wood. Quite light feel and not a lot of sweetness, mostly light tartness and some bitter in the finish. Quite nice, but like most smoked beers I prefer it with a cigarette, without the smoke of the beer is a bit too much for me.

330ml bottle. Clear, dark copper colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, sulphur-coloured head. Slightly smoky, caramel malty aroma, a touch of toffee, vanilla and oak. Taste is minimally sweet caramel malty, hints of toffee, vanilla, some smoke, a touch of oak. Well balanced, moderate use of smoked malt. Tastes like what others try to achieve by Bourbon BA - nifty.

Dark brown colour. Quite a rich, malt aroma with light smokiness. Full flavoured with sweeter malty notes balancing the light woody, salty, smokiness.

330ml bottle from a shopping centre on the Den Haag waterfront, drunk on the Rotterdam - Hull ferry. Dark, sweet aroma with a distinctive, fairly robust smoked malt taste and sticky texture with burnt caramel moments. Not sure I’m diggin this to be honest.
