T42 tasting on Birfaday. Light haze on this deep amber beer, tidy tan head. Palate is airy, mildy dry and has decent fine carbonation. Smooth and mellow dark malts, trace of dark chocolate, touch of toffee. Piney hops and a little red berry fruits. Smooth finish. Decent.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Kenwise. Pours deep brown with a dense, frothy khaki head. Some perfume in the nose, faint cocoa, pithy grapefruit. Light to medium sweet flavour with earthy hops, lime peel, toasted pine, light roast. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with bittersweet cocoa, moderate roast, scorched earth, orange rind. Not bad.

Bottle shared at the level 42 tasting 7/9/2016. Many thanks to Kenny for this one. A black dark brown coloured pour with a lasting frothy tan head. Aroma is airy pine needles, fresh pine, brown malts. Flavour is composed of spicy pine needles, airy toasted malts, sticky resinous, little coffee bean. Palate is abrasive frothy carbonation, dry finish. Decent woody hop bitterness.

Bottle thank to Kenny on level 42. It pours darkest brown / nor black with a thick tan head. The aroma is rich roast, toasted malt, vanish, charred pine, orange peel, cocoa and wood. The taste is bitter, rich roast, earthy, liquorice, ashy, toasty, peppery spice, charred wood, soapy citrus, mild astringency and cacao nibs with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and high carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle, 0.33l. Clear almost black color with large soapy light brown head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of pine, dark fruits, roasted malt and a bit of sweat. When really cold taste starts sour fruity and yeast and then follows by roasted malty notes. When beer gets warmer, sourness settles down, while sweeter and oilier malty notes makes to the foreground, supported by rich fruitiness and roasted notes. Mouthfeel is warming spicy, alcohol is well hidden, while finish is medium bitter. Medium to full body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Bottle was certainly infected, although not that bad, that it wouldn’t be drinkable. Will remember this brew after too much sourness for sure...

Bottle, 330 ml. courtesy of Miro B. Shared with him and JFK10000. Pours dark brown with tan head. Hoppy aroma, pine, roasted malts, chocolate, bitter finish. Medium bodied. Expected a bit better from the aroma, but not a bad brew.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Cotteridge, Birmingham, consumed at Frank at Canterbury Camping and Caravan Club site Canterbury, Kent, Friday 11th March 2016 Pours black with a creamy off-white head, other than the way it settles it looked very much like a Guinness. This doesn’t taste anything like 8.5%. For the abv it is a little bit thin, I guess I am being unfair, but it does taste just a tad thin, however as it warms it improves. Displaying the usual attributes of a BIPA, i.e. some roastiness, fruity (citrus), bitterness (not so bitter though) it ticks the right boxes, but it is just a tad muted in many areas. Fine. Pours a deep black color, topped with a decently sized and solidly lasting beige colored head. Nice sweet, milk chocolate with some vanilla aroma with some citruses developing later on, as well as some piney presence.Starts sweet and very chocolatey, moderate bitterness to follow with chocolate coming around again in the aftertaste. Very nice. Drinkable, medium bodied and delicious.
