Servida en pinta, la cascada que forma al servir es una maravilla. Color negro con destellos rojizos al trasluz, espuma beige densa y cremosa de excelente retención. Aroma ligeramente torrefacto, pequeñas notas de cereal, muy sutiles. Cuerpo ligero y poco carbonatado que en conjunto con su terriblemente cremosa espuma adquiere una textura cremosa, suave y muy agradable. Fondo levemente dulce y mínimamente torrefacto, amargor ligero, pequeñas notas de café y cacao, poco relevantes, en general poca complejidad, pero una textura muy agradable, para pasar un rato agradable y placentero en un pub y consumir una tras otra.

440ml can. Jet black colour with slowly settling, average, super dense, firm, thick, creamy, moderately to mostly lasting, moderately lacing, ochre-ish, beige head. Chocolately, roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, some coffee, whiffs of dark caramel. Taste is minimally dry, chocolately, dark malty, hints of cream, some dark chocolate. Creamy-watery texture, smooth, soft and silky palate, fine, soft, creamy carbonation. Very creamy, not overly intense, rather restricted roastiness - a classic.

Wenig, allerdings extrem feinporiger und sehr cremiger Schaum. Malzige Noten, etwas Traubensaft, leicht röstig-bitter. Sehr weich, sehr leicht - gerade so an der Grenze, bevor es tatsächlich anfängt wässrig zu werden. Gut trinkbar, durchaus schmackhaft. Reißt kurz Themen an, die (wenn ausgeprägter) nicht jedem gefallen - aber als besonderer Charakter gelten und einen kleineren, eingefleischteren Kreis von Liebhabern bedienen würden. So allerdings weltweit absolut massentauglich - und macht dabei einen guten Job. Hab das Bier sonst nur im Irish Pub getrunken. Um ne objektive Bewertung unter gleichen Bedingungen zu erstellen habe ich mir 3 Dosen im Supermarkt gekauft. Nach dem Einschenken kommt die große Verwunderung. Irgendwas ist noch in der Dose. Was ist das? Ein Eisklumpen, weil ich es zu gut eingekühlt habe (kommt bei mir tatsächlich gelegentlich vor)? Ein Mäusetotenkopf? Ein abgebrochenes Stück von der Abfüllmaschine? Die Rückseite der Dose gibt Aufschluss. Das ist eine Plastikkugel, die die optimale Schaumentwicklung bewirken soll. Muss das wirklich sein? Die wenigsten Leute finden es toll, wenn Plastik in ihrem Bier schwimmt. Davon abgesehen, dass das nicht optimal fürs Recycling der Dose ist.

Can from Sainsburys. Black pour with a beige head. Had this a thousand times over many years, suprised I've never rated it. Anyway, creamy coffee, chocolate and sweet malt aromas.Taste is coffee, milky chocolate and a slightly intrusive bitterness which I'm sure wasn't there years ago.Malty bitter finish.

Poured from nitro tap @ Wolf & Hound. Easy tick that I’ve never bothered with, but when watching a comedy show at a local Irish pub, why not? Dark brown with creamy beige head. Creamy, roast malt, simple, inoffensive, also not all that interesting. Okay, tick done, will eventually do a re-rate one day when I actually travel to Ireland.
