Clear gold with a generous,long lasting white head. Fruity citrus aroma. Sculpin is already one of my favorite IPAs and the addition of the grapefruit works well in this. Fruity, hoppy, well balanced between the sweetness and the bitterness and fresh flavors that pop out on the tongue. Unfortunately, it will be a rare treat as long as it stays at it’s current $14.99/6 price.

Pours clear dark golden color with white head. Aromas of grapefruit, orange, and light caramel. Bitter grapefruit rind flavor with a hint of caramel. Medium body with average carbonation. Not as good as the regular version.

Bottle shared at Meisterstuck, Berlin. Pours clear amber with an off white head. Aroma of grapefruit, caramel malt, light melon and light citrus. Flavour is light moderate sweet and light heavy bitter with orange peel coming out in the palate. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Very much grapefruit, so truth in advertising. That is really the main player here, which is fine because it is quite tasty, but don’t expect a lot more than that. It does have a bit of other citrus hop notes and very faint malt, but basically this is a half of a grapefruit at breakfast. Finish is quite dry and puckering. Still, good brew with a nicely bitter finish. I could easily drink a six pack of this, unless the 7% got to me first.

Clear orange beer, creamy irregular white head, little stable, bit adhesive. aroma: lots of citrus, exotic fruits, grapefruit, bit sweet, more citrus. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of grapefruit, citrus, soft bitterness, little soapy. Aftertaste: grapefruit, bitter, bit resinous, some citrus.

Medium amount of white head tops a sandy-hued golden beer with high clarity.
Citrus in the nose, not surprisingly with notes of biscuity malt, light honey and some mild tropical fruit (nectarine, kiwi). There’s a domineering acidity that is just pure white grapefruit-like dryness and just dosent smell as fresh as I had hoped it would. No alcohol or flaws.
Flavor takes the grapefruit too far. It’s not unbalanced in the sense that it’s too much grapefruit juice, it’s just bitter citrus, in all forms, with little else. Horribly monotonous, with at least a fairly well-attenuated, though perhaps a bit grainy, maltiness. Texture is very carbonated and rather hard (crystal malt....), doing nothing to help allay all of this citrus bitterness. It isn’t resinous, is about the only nice thing I can say. Must have missed something here? I do think that Sculpin has gone way down hill, but this is just painfully novel and uninteresting (or to put it another way, very superficial, as David says, which I wholly agree with).
