Our Grapefruit Sculpin is the latest take on our signature IPA. Some may say there are few ways to improve Sculpin’s unique flavor, but the tart freshness of grapefruit perfectly complements our IPA’s citrusy hop character. Grapefruit’s a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a dark golden color with a small foamy off white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was tangy and sweet with a bit of grapefruit. The flavor was tangy, bitter and sweet with pine, grapefruit and a bit of caramel. Long finish. Medium body. Decent

Keg at Brewdog, Shepherds Bush, London. A golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, citrus, grapefruit aroma. Tastes similar, hoppy, citrus, grapefruit, slight sweetness. Grapefruit works well, nice work.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a thin head that dies quickly. Aromas of mango and tropical fruit with some honey sweetness. Not a lot of sharp pine to the nose. Flavor is brisk and has a nice grapefruit edge to it... more like the fruit than the pith. It balances nicely and is a perfect end to a long hump day...

Many thanks to John for sharing!! Fresh nose. The beer starts fresh, intense. Hints of lemons, grapefruit. Intense aroma with hints of fresh and floral hops. Round and nice aftertaste with nice sourish grapefruit and fresh floral hops. Great!

Fresh, zesty citrus nose, complimented by tropical hop character and a moderately sweet, clean malt base - flavor is similar - moderate grapefruit pith that works well with the bitterness and tropical character of the hops, but with enough clean malt sweetness to balance - quite good.

Bottle: Poured a golden color ale with a nice white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of intense citrus notes with light grapefruit notes. Taste is also dominated by citrus hops notes with light grapefruit notes with some residual sugar notes that are also perceptible. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Very pleasant IPA but I can’t say that I noticed the grapefruit notes coming out as much as I would have hoped.

bottle at home courtesy of Saeglopur. Bottled 15.01.2015. dark orange hazy color. small white head. strong smell of grapefruits, citric smell, oranges, light sweetness, pines, some grass. quite nice smell. medium to full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. taste of pines, oranges, light grapefruit, a bit soapy, some grass, candy, light sweetness. grapefruity bitter finish. great beer. really like the smell, taste is a bit soapy, but I really like the grapefruit notes that are coming through again on the aftertaste.

On tap at watering hole. Clear orange gold color with a minimal head. Aroma is all ruby red grapefruit with a touch of pine and malt. Taste is more of the same with the grapefruit being more present on the finish. A little sweeter than the regular sculpin but the bitterness is still there. Fun take on sculpin. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin on 01 Jun 2015 at 21:52 - Score: 8

On Tap @ Kumas Too. Pour is a clear golden color with a nice thick foamy head. Really nice grapefruit and hop aroma. Taste is obviously on the bitter side, with the grapefruit pith/juice dominating. Nice floral hops, a bit of pine, and a bit of sweetness round this out well. Medium body with average carbonation.
