Our Grapefruit Sculpin is the latest take on our signature IPA. Some may say there are few ways to improve Sculpin’s unique flavor, but the tart freshness of grapefruit perfectly complements our IPA’s citrusy hop character. Grapefruit’s a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Supermarket Liquor for $3. Pour a touch hazy, dark orange appearance with a tan head. The aroma is full of tropical fruits - guava, tangerine, grapefruit, passion fruit - with some caramel and spicy hops. Moderately dry with moderate plus bitterness. Not overly bitter. Caramel and toasted malt in the mouth along with juicy citrus and tropical fruits. The grapefruit is pretty mild but there is some tropical fruit coming from the hops as well. Clean finish. This is a nice beer and one that I would drink again.

Sample from at the Jackie O’s Staff Bottle Tasting Part 1 on 04/11/2015. Pours a clear bright orange-gold color with a medium fluffy white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of grapefruit, hops and malt. Medium-bodied with a pungent grapefruity character with hops and roast malt behind it. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering grapefruit and hops aftertaste. Enjoyable beer all around.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a nice hazy golden orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a good thirty seconds. The lacing stuck at first and then slid in a messy sort of way.
The smell had a sweet and bitter grapefruit, somewhat like pulp and somewhat like rind. Extra citrus comes through nicely.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors to combine and lead a slight spice to round out. A dry grapefruit/grassy aftertaste leads to a quick dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation pounds like a fresh AIPA and subdues my tongue into submission.
Overall, this is where it’s at, alcohol is barely felt. Hot damn, just wanna pound this for the rest of the Spring/Summer!

Bottle from colonial spirits. Hazy orange amber color with a decent long lasting off white head. Huge citrus and citrus hop notes with a fair amount of bready malt underneath. solid citrus flavor with faint sweet maltiness. Nice twist on a great ipa.

12 oz bottle purchased at Applejack in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. 15057 printed on label. The pour is a mostly clear golden orange with a one inch off white head. The aroma is grapefruit tart and grapefruit bitter, bit of cracker malt in the back. The taste is bitterness, primarily from grapefruit then moves into resin floral hop and the cracker malt carries the finish. The palate is medium bodied, natural carbonation and a dry bitter grapefruit finish. Really showcases the the grapefruit character; fun, but I certainly prefer straight Sculpin.

The beer is an orangey amber color with a white head. Quite clear. Nice white head. Some lacing. The aroma is chock full of juicy grapefruit. It’s just a blast of perfect grapefruit flavor. Ruby red perfection. There’s a light floral note to remind you that there are hops in this beer and you’re not drinking a glass of juice. Taste is a lot less bitter than expected. Moderate bitterness, at most. Good grapefruit flavor. Mild pale malt character with a hint of caramel. Easy to drink. Gentler than expected with all of that grapefruit. Really nice beer to have easily available on the shelf.

Draft: Poured orange with an off white head. Nice hoppy citrus grape fruit. Tastes bitter hops and stings the tongue. Grapefruit hints as well.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Clear light orange with small off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit, medium body, medium/light carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is grapefruit, some herbal hops, and descent malt backbone. Doesn’t seem as rich as regular sculpin, but seems to be easier to drink than regular sculpin.
