Bottle. Blonde. Orange, malt and à hint of pepper in the aroma. Malty, fairly dry peppery flavor with orange. Marmelade in the finish. Prickly mouthfeel. Nice.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 25 July 2017) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with apricots, orange and caramel. Malty, sweet taste with notes of apricots, orange peel, honey, caramel, black-pepper and a mild spicy bitterness. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and balanced, with a mild pepper character. Quite nice.

0.33 l bottle from ’Drankenspeciaalzaak van Haastregt/Lamers’, best before November 2018. Clear, golden amber with a medium large, a bit fluffy, quickly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, floral, quite spicy and a bit yeasty aroma of hay, pepper, wheat and some lemon peel. Slightly sweetish, yeasty-spicy, slightly floral and a bit fruity taste of clove, banana, pepper, lemon peel and straw, followed by a medium long, rather dry-bitter, yeasty-spicy and peppery finish with a bit if plastic. Medium body, very effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Quite messy, not really enjoyable, simply not well-made: too much carbonation, even for a Saison, and plastic yeast in the finish. What surprises me though is that I do not dislike the pepper.

Bottle. Orange golden color. Aroma of sweet yeast ester, malt, orange and mild tart. Taste has mild tart, yeast ester, subtle spice, some dryness and lots and lots of co2. Needs some tweaking.

33cl Bottle from Vonk. Murky golden orange colour, fizzy quickly disappearing off-white head. Aroma of black peppercorns, spicy saison yeast, fruity, some lemon zest, hay. Flavour is medium sweet, fruity, spicy yeast, lots of yeast actually, some plastic, black pepper, spicy bittersweet finish with some lemon. Light to medium bodied, fizzy carbonation. Nice, could be great with a few tweaks imho.

Bottle from het Biermoment, BB 17-11-18, 33 cl sample. Hazy golden to orange color, medium lasting frothy head. Aroma of spicy saison yeast, citrussy and nelsin sauvin like hops, and freshly ground black pepper and with that some cedar wood (is that because of the black pepper or the used hops in combination with the black pepper?). Quite spicy in taste, the black pepper sharpens it up a bit together with the medium carbonation. Soft citrussy sourness fitting well with saison like properties. Interesting brewers experiment.

Orangey colour with no head. There’s a light pepperyness to it but it doesn’t stand out as a pepper flavoured beer. Fairly yeasty and flat.

Tap at NBFD. Hazy light golden with small white head. Lots of yeast up front, white pepper, sweet caramel, sugary, some brown bread. Black pepper in the aftertaste. Over medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium bodied.
