Hazy brown beer, beige head. Aroma of malts, milk chocolate, caramel, soy sauce, yeast and spices. Flavour rather sweet, quite spicy with some pronounced bitterness. Cacao and yeast. Finish spicy. Quite nice.

Bottle, 7.5%. Sweet aroma, brown sugar, with a little spicy note and some yeast. Hazy brown colour. Good stable light brown head. The flavour is yeasty and spicy. Not fat yeast like many Belgian style dubbels, but more subdued.

33 cl bottle. Pours hazy dark orange with a small tan head. Aroma is mild fruity and spiced. Sweet, spiced and bitter. Light caramelish and nutmeg. Dry and spiced finish.

Bottle. Unclear dark red with a small and thin white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, yeast and some milk. Taste of nutmeg, yeast and malt. Thin mouth feel. Not bad but not exciting either.

33 cl bottle @ home. Brown, murky color, with beige head. Very sweet aroma, sweet spices (speculaas/cinnamon/aniseed), banana, peardrops. Flavor is sweet but not sticky. Medium bodied. Not much of an aftertaste, just a prolongation of the spiciness. OK, but too sweet for my liking.

Bottle 330ml. @ the WSF after tasting on the Riding School Hostel.[ Courtesy of Rciesla & vtafro ]. Murky medium matt amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, dusty, moderate yeasty, leather, barnyard notes. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, chocolate ! Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110528]

Bottle thanks to Rciesla & Vtafro post-WSF. It pours murky brown, with a reddish hint, almost no head and fine carbonation. The nose is caramel, wood, ginger, lots of cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar. The taste is sweet caramel, fig, milk chocolate, wood, toffee, lactose and brown sugar. Very smooth and drinkable, but perhaps a little too sweet.

Bottle from Bier Koning. Cloudy brown beer. Tiny pale tan head. Soft frothy palate. Sweet creamy malt with a little toffee. Whisper of citrus. A touch of ginger? This brewery likes spice flavours! Soft smooth finish. Hangs together pretty well and is a little off the beaten track and quite drinkable.
