The double beer packs a spicy surprise thanks to the added cloves, star anise and licorice root. The beer has an exotic flavor and a pleasant slightly sweet finish.

Bottle from Daan. Thank you! Murky brown colour, white foam. Aroma of dry fruit, caramel and a lot of spices: cinnamon, anise and ginger. Light sweet with light bitter aftertaste. Decent beer.

Fruity vinous nose. Opaque redbrown colour, small tan head, dissipates fast, no lacing. Aroma toasted malt, candy sugar, citrus, full of spices: cinnamon, cloves, some nutmeg, coriander, cardemom, touch of ginger - a whole spice rack. Taste heavy sweetness, spicy, slightly bitter. Medium body, oily feel, soft carbonation; spicy bittersweet finish.

Bottle at the St. Albans Beer Festival 2013. Poured a dark copper colour with a halo of white head and good lacing. Aroma is a absolute spice bomb of cloves, cardamons, liquorice, orange peal and some Belgian yeast behind all that. Flavours are equally spicy; aniseed and more cloves in the mix, slightly peppery too. Finishes with some sweeter nutmeg and molasses and chewy malt. Odd beer... probably be nice in a Christmas pudding.

Bottle at St Albans beer fest thanks to Beese. Aroma is huge clove fennel and cardamon. Dark caramel off white head. Halo. Flavour is big over powering spice fennel liquorice. Quite sweet.

Bottle from ABC Beers. Pours a murky dirty brow with sediment and a smooth tan head. Very spicy aroma with cinnamon and nutmeg. Same dominant flavours with some dark fruit and toffee. Sweet and light to medium bitter. Medium bodied and soft to moderate carbonation.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning, ABV on the label hand-corrected to 6.5%. Deep dark brown colour, thick beige head. Aroma of a bag of whole cloves, buttery chocolate, cocoa, malts, some dark fruits. Flavour is medium sweet, fizzy, dark fruits, whole cloves, hint of cinnamon, some chocolate, light bitter finish. Medium bodied, overcarbonated. OK dubbel.

33cl bottle shared with Dutchdrebus. Unclear, opague brownish color, small off-white lacing. Smell malts, brown candysugar, herbs and spices, cinnamon, some sort of sweetness. Taste malts, herbs or spices, I think cinnamon, some sort of sweetness and weird. Decent body and carbo. Just don’t like it.

Bottle @ home shared with benzai. Opague brown with a creamy off-white head. Smells ’pepernoten’, ’speculaas’, brown candy sugar, herbs, spices and malts. Sweet. Tastes sweet, brown candy sugar, herbs, plums. Something different for a change. I like it, but i can see why other don’t. Good carbo, medium body.
