Bottle. Opaque light orange with an impressive white head. Aroma of grapefruits, zest, wheat, bubblegum and clove. Taste is wheats, grains, grapefruits and clove. Moderate bitterness. Medium carbonation. Surprisingly nice and refreshing. Was hesistant to try this as I don't expect much from Grolsch but the woman talked me into it (and she wants me now to buy another pack). Not sure about the IPA tag though.

26 June 2018. Sample at 't Taphuys, Tilburg. Shared with Anke.
Hazy yellow with a small, frothy, white head; little lacing. Aroma of banana, bubblegum, lemon, wheat, apple, soap, spices. It tastes medium sugary sweet, lots of bubblegum, and light wheaty sour, bit yeasty. Dryish, wheaty finish, lingering bubblegum sugar, very faint note of grassy hops. Medium to light body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Overly sweet, not enough hops even for a Wheat Ale. Seriously, what is this?

Fles 30cl thuis. Citrus, fruitig, bitters, sinaasappel, heel licht romig, weizen sneeuwt wat onder. Valt erg mee. (12-2017).

Moderat bitter-hopfiger Beginn. Kaum süß, getreidig, die Bitterkeit wird weich. Spritzig, blumig, würzig bitterer Nachhall. Gelungen. 9/10/10/10//10

Big, creamy, lacey head, very stable, just off-white over fully hazy russet-ochre-orange beer. Banana, nutmeg, citrus, indication of fruity hops, but mainly classical Weizen characteristics. Bit dullish fruity flavour; wheat, (other) grains; even less hops than in the nose. Finish is again banana and nutmeg, with a bitterish edge. Bit mineral/fishy warming up. Typical wheatslickness, one nearly feels the bananamash. Good carbonation. As to Weizen, fully agreed. IPA - no, that's miles away. And as to what 'Royale' might indicate...? Palm might not be amused... 6/4/6/3/12

Bottle at home. Hazy orange golden with big off white head. Strong weizen yeast with cloves and overripe banana. Light dough, peach, bitter herbs, grassy notes, weird metallic dry hops, pancakes, mineral water. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with nice wheat feel and prickly carbonation. One of the less offensive Grolsch beers, though it’s a bit too metallic and bitter for a weizen. No idea where the IPA in the name comes from, but it has nothing to do with any kind of IPA at all.
