Stevig blond lentebier. Texels Springtij is een stevig blond lentebier, bloemig en kruidig. Een verrassend bloemig aroma gevolgd door een kruidige, volle smaak. Springtij is lentekriebels: onze ode aan de ontluikende natuur in het voorjaar.

A little dark fruit or toffee aroma. Medium head, cloudy brown amber color. Taste is candy sweet, combined with low bitterness, with a yeasty finish. Medium body, smooth texture.

Bottle at home, my dealer was Van Alsem. Slightly hazy amber with big white head. Sweet malts, grassy, citrus fruity, yeasty, spices, slightly alcoholic, banana candy. Over moderate sweet with light bitter counterpart, lactic acid in the aftertaste. Body is medium, slightly over average carbonation. A very adequate brew, but I’m bored with this kind of (sweet, Belgian yeasty) beer and this is very much a middle of the road, safe flavor. Well executed but boring.

Bottle at home. Hazy amber with lasting small white head. Flowery up front with light citrus and yeast. Very sweet malts, toffee, light herbs and some curry spices. Also quite bready, like sugar or banana bread actually. Taste is very sweet up front with a lasting medium bitter finish. Medium bodied. Bit too sweet for me but otherwise decent beer.

On the day of the "tide of the century", this seems an appropriate choice, all the more so because it is apparently a spring beer. Cloudy amber beer with dead yeast bits floating around here and there, under a thickly and attractively lacing, frothy, off-white head. Very ’Belgian’ in the nose, like most beers from this brewery: lots of peach and banana, canned apricot and pineapple slices, tomato, ginger, pear, caramel, biscuit, grass, butterscotch, cigarette tobacco, Jack Daniels, toasted bread, roasted pine nuts, rain water, hints of DMS (cooked cauliflower) and DMDS (sulphur). Taste begins with a vivid, sweetish fruitiness, pineapple, banana, pear and apricot, fairly strong and minerally carbonation, light sourish accent, yeasty with a bready and caramelly middle phase, ending in a herbally hop bitterish finish, in which especially the caramelly malt sweetishness persists, along with some ’Belgian’ spicy yeastiness and a subtle hint of warming, bourbon-like alcohol. This is not going to change the tide, but so far it is a bit above average for this brewery as far as I’m concerned. Could pass for just any Belgian tripel, though...

Bottled. Hazy yellowish golden colour with a creamy white head. Aroma is fruity, sweet malts, some slight candy as well as some slight sugary notes. Flavour is sweet alcohol, some fruits, mild toffee and some candy like (jelly candy) sweetness as well. Too sweet for my taste.

Tap tasted on 02/07/2014. Hazy copper/amber colour with a splendid white foamy head. Aroma is very sweet with sugar and caramel. Taste is very sweet too, maybe too much, with a lot of caramels, sugar and candys. Carbonation is low to medium and body is OK. Aftertaste has nothing special. Next one please!

Solid blond beer. Not very special, but perhaps a good alternative for pils lovers.
