Brewed as a salute to our brothers at Spiteful Brewing, Deal With the Devil is a beer that comes with a price: our souls. After securing a box of foolproof, sought after hops, we came up with a juicy pale ale that’s low in bitterness and huge in tropical flavors. This beer is unfiltered. Sediment may form.

650ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, orangey dark golden to amber colour with average, thick, frothy, fairly lasting and lacing, off-white head. Citrusy hoppy aroma, notes of grapefruit, orange, tangerine, pineapple, orange zest, some resin with sweaty almond touch. Taste is initially moderately sweet caramel malty, later more and more bitter hoppy, notes of grapefruit and orange, mandarine, some almond; even more bitter, biting, hoppy finish, super soft palate.

Bottle bought @ The Mikkeller webshop. No bottled on date I can find. Pours hazy brownish red with a frothy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is malty and tiny fruity with biscuits, caramel, pineapple juice, grapefruit juice, moist grass, pine needles, lemon zest, cardboard and hints of alcohol. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, slightly fruity and slightly vegetal with biscuits, caramel, toffee, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice, celery, moist grass, pine needles, alcohol, cardboard and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is slightly sticky sweet, slightly astringent, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter, tiny fruity and slightly vegetal with biscuits, caramel, sweet dark bread, grapefruit juice, unripe pineapple, cardboard, moist grass, celery, alcohol and lemon zest. Old, oxidized and incredibly expensive. Shame on the Mikkeller shop for selling old stale beer for such a price.

On tap at Mikkeller bar, Copenhagen. Hazy dark amber pour with a white head. Apricot, tangerine and vanilla aroma. Flavours of pepper, some sweet spice, lots of fruit in there too. Nice.

Bottle from Mikkeller Webshop. Dark amber, moderate hazy body, with a medium, creamy, pretty stable, white head, that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, peach, orange, pine, passion fruit, candy. Taste with about the same aromas, also a subtle malt backbone, with biscuit and grass. Mouthfeel is medium, oily, with a moderate carbonation and it finishes bitter, slightly dry, with lemon zest, pine and grass. Nice one! Overall nothing outstanding, but really solid, well balanced and with crisp citric and tropical fruit notes.

Very hazy amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and light and a little crisp. Touch of light creamy malt. Good hops, little orangey citric peel. Hop spice. Medium bitterness. Passion friut led tropical fruits. Finishes light and dry with more spicy citric peel hops. Very nice indeed. Very drinkable. What has everyone else been drinking?

Bottle thanks to Ben H. It pours deep amber with a small white head. The nose is rich, piney, resinous, candied orange peel, orange muffin and marmalade. The taste is bitter, varnish, pine, leather, piney, oily, mild astringency and mild alcohol with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and oily fine carbonation. Pretty nice stuff.
