Killanny is only a few kilometers down the road from Carrickmacross, which is the inspiration behind the naming of this red ale. A “Grand” Irish Ale with russet red hues and a slightly malty, nutty flavor. This is a bottle conditioned beer.

Amber pour. Thin foam around the rim. Not as much malt as I hoped. Flavor is earthy and black coffee. Light bodied and light carbonation

Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso viene attratto dal caramello. La finezza olfattiva è elevata e il modo in cui permane è apprezzabile. Il manto birroso superiore è caratterizzato da una schiuma che resiste abbastanza. La grandezza delle bollicine è medio-fine. Il liquido è di aspetto opalescente. Il colore è ambrato rossiccio carico tendente marrone. Il corpo è rotondo. L'amaro è nella media. La forza gustativa è elevata e la permanenza è sufficiente. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di pronta beva. Il finale è amarognolo. Il retrogusto è di decente intensità. L'aroma in bocca porta i segni di caramello, miele, crosta di pane, frutta secca, un accenno di resinoso e agrumi.

330ml can from Flavourly. First ever beer from Brehon and County Monaghan. Pours a clear reddish brown with small white head, some retention. Aroma and taste is very malty and nutty, light roast, sweet, some chocolate, red fruits. Quite good.

Norm's Beer and Wine: pours ruby with beige head. Aroma is caramel, a little nutty. Taste is malty, light hops, some earth. Fine.

Bottle 0,33 ltr: Clear dark chesnut/ amber colored brew with an nicely dry bitter taste, hints of mainly citrus and minor caramel and roasted malts.

Rated at Suomenojan jätevedenpuhdistamo. Sweetish, malty and slightly caramely with hints of toastiness, toffee and earthiness. A bit unbalanced

(Can, 0.44l, thanks VastActiv, at VastActiv, 20240802) The beer poured copper coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, caramel and earth. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramel, earth, biscuits and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. Nice.
