Richmodis Bräu, the former brewery of Richmodis Kölsch, was an independant brewery until 1998 when it was bought by Privatbrauerei Gaffel. Richmodis Kölsch was discontinued in 2010, in 2012 REWE bought the naming rights. Since then it's brewed for the REWE supermarket chain.

Bottled 330ml. -from Rewe Leverkusen. Clear pale golden coloured, medium sized airy white head, light cereals in the nose. Sweetish malty, grainy, light corn and cereals with light grainy notes in the finish.

500ml bottle into glass. From REWE, Cologne. Amber beer with bubbly white head which slowly dissipates. Light carbonation. Nose is distant lemon. Light body, chalky lemon leading to lingering lemon finish
Average Kolsch, simple, easy-drinking. Nothing wrong with it but nothing exciting either.

0.33l bottle. Clear yellow body with a white head. Aroma of grains, earth, hay and some floral hops. Taste of bread, grains, hay and some floral hops. Light bodied and refreshing. Tasty kölsch.

0.33 l bottle from local ’REWE’, best before November 2017. Clear, golden yellow with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, grassy-spicy and slightly floral aroma of straw and slight hints of citrus. Slightly sweetish, rather grassy-spicy and a bit grainy taste of grains, straw and a touch of citrus, followed by a short, rather dry-bitter, grassy-spicy and slightly metallic finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay!

Clear pale to medium golden colour, small frothy white head, mostly diminishing, light lacing. Aroma pale malts, grain, wet hay. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, grainy, light grassy. Light body, oily to watery texture, soft carbonation, mild sweet aftertaste with light bitterness, bit metallic. A light weight Kölsch, easy to drink, decent.

Lichtgeel bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is wat licht en waterig, licht bitter en ietwat zoet. Er zijn duidelijk betere Kölsch bieren, daarentegen is deze best te drinken.

Draft @ Tilquin English Fest ’16, courtesy of and shared with the fine Belgian RB crew. Dorée, col blanc. Arôme au nez noble, houblon à al ramasse et quasi absent, rétro malt pils semble être le seul ingrédient du style. Palais est minimaliste, plus de malt pils que d’autres choses à noter. Amertume est aussi faiblarde, le tout est sec avec une petite note de douceur résiduelle.

Klare goldgelbe Farbe, mittelgroße weiße Schaumkrone. Geruch metallisch hopfig, leicht getreidig. Geschmack süß getreidig malzig, leicht hopfig, uninteressant.
