It's fun to mess around. This casual experimentation is our first New England-style double IPA, brewed in honor of our annual Criderfest beer festival. Featuring Idaho 7 and Falconers Flight hops, this beer has hints of citrus and tropical fruits.

From tap at the brewery. Light hazy golden color with white head. Malty and hoppy aroma, sweet citrus, caramel, light tropical fruits. Heavy sweet and bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Half pour at the source. Appearance is lightly hazy yellow, mild sparkle, with ring of head and no lacing. Aroma was mild citrus and fruity tones, but not a juice bomb by a long shot. Taste was similar to aroma. Palate was light-to-medium bodied with thin, slick texture, and finish as taste. Overall, the right flavors were there (i.e., citrus and fruit) but pretty muted for either a DIPA or a New England inspired IPA, and particularly for both.

Pour is a typical hazy IPA with a small white head. Aroma is a real nice pineapple and passion fruit hop. Flavor is nice tropical fruit with a sweet creaminess from the lactose that lays on the tongue after the swallow. Pretty nice beer here, I could probably do without the lactose in these types of beers as it makes it sweeter and heavier than it already is.
