La Silly Sour existe depuis le tout début de la création de la Brasserie par Marcelin Meynsbrughen en 1850. Elle est brassée avec 13% de bière jeune et 87% de bière vieillie. Le résultat est une bière complexe, fruitée et agréablement acide. Elle procure des sensations très intenses et rafraîchissantes.

Pours ruby-tinged mahogany into a snifter. Off white head recedes to skim surface. Sour, earthy cherry pit aromas. Soft with sweet cherry and bitter pith upfront turning to dry cherry skin in the lasting finish.

Awesome looking beer. Clear amber with a great head of foam and lacing.
A fruity tartness mixed with a typical Saison nose here.
Tastes just like it smells. Lightish fruity tartness complimenting a classic like flavour of a well brewed Saison. Easy to drink cuz it tastes good and the abv is easy to handle. I like.

Bottle. Mahogany beer with a dark cream head. Light fruit and light malt aroma. Tart/light sour flavor with berry fruit and light malt. Medium bodied. Tart/light sour lingers with light caramel and light cherry/berry.

Hazy brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of sour grapes, malt, light alcohol and a bit of fresh fruit. Medium-bodied; Assertive sweetness from caster sugar and fruit shows up front with a little sour grape finish on the end, but definitely not a sour flavour initially. Aftertaste shows a hint of sour citric acid additives, some honey and syrupy sweetness and a bit of a bitterness and deep flavour of alcohol. Overall, a rather underwhelming beer with some minute sour notes and only a funky sweetness - but still, for some reason, nice to try given that I never saw this in all of double-digit trips to belgium, but settled for it here in New York. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 25-April-2014 for US$4,00 sampled at home in Washington on 09-April-2015.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks zvikar. Almost clear reddish amber. Aroma of stale malt, caramel, cherries and other fruits, cobwebs and vinous notes. Sweetish-sourish flavor with malt, caramel, lots of fruits, mild funk tart lemon and apple in the finish. Medium-bodied. Decent.
