Pooltime Ale is a refreshing Belgian-inspired Wheat Ale with light clove notes. The truly distinguishing feature is the use of 100% Montmorency tart cherries grown in the Traverse City region of Michigan. Can from Miso Hoppy, 7/9/16. Nice tart cherry and wheat aroma and flavor. Slightly above average on the carbonation. Pretty drinkable. Good stuff.

Can: Pours very cloudy....orange-amber with a soft, off-white head. Slightly spoiled cherries...wheat aroma. Nice, fruit-cocktail style cherry malt, yeast, wheat malt. Pretty nice.....slightly bitter cherry and a solid body.

Can. A- Subtle cherry, wheat. A- Orange color, cloudy liquid, white head. T- Wheat, subtle iron, artificial cherry, P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, bland finish. O- This needs some work. I didn’t expect great things but being from Bell’s, I figured it would be enticing. Pretty boring and bland actually. Not much cherry there and what is there is pretty artificial tasting. This one just didn’t work out, but it certainly has potential too. Maybe that’s why it was retired once already....

12 ounce can into signature pint glass, canned on 6/8/2016. Pours hazy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of tart cherry, lemon, orange, pear, apple, pepper, clove, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, cherry juice, and pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of tart cherry, lemon, orange, pear, apple, pepper, clove, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate yeast spiciness and fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart cherry, lemon, orange, pear, apple, pepper, clove, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, cherry juice, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from tart/spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly acidic/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected for 5%. Overall this is a great fruited witbier style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, cherry juice, and pale malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink. Tastes like Winter White with cherry juice added, and is just as delicious as the base beer overall. A very enjoyable offering.

Draft at Alchemy. Super cloudy orange-tan. Foamy off-white head. Interesting mix. Somewhat tangy. Yeasty, lots of Belgian character with some wheat right next to the cherries. Quite complex but also quite drinkable and refreshing. Super unfiltered, great thick yeast tastes. The cherries are quite nice, adding a nice an earthy fruity tang. Never artificial or sugary. Really heavier and richer than the ABV would suggest.

pression, brumeuse, dorée, col blanc épais. Cette bière avait des aspects de type Hefeweizen, au nez, il en ressort pas mal d’esters de banane et de grains; blé qui se retrouvent au palais. Le palais avait néanmoins qcq notes de fine amertume de grenade plus que de cerises qui étaient très faible au goût. Au finit, le palais conserve cette approche de banane et esters.

On tap at Fruit in the Room at Cigar City Brewing. Pours murky copper with sort of a pink hue. The aroma is fruity with sort of a blueberry - raspberry combination and then becoming assertive sweet banana, wheat and bubble gum. The taste is similar being fruity strawberry and then wheat, banana and bubble gum.

On draught at Gallo’s Tap Room. The beer is a murky reddish-orange color with a thin white head that diminishes slowly. Thin rings of lacing. Aroma of wheat, cherries and yeast. Light, clean body with a tart cherry character and flavors of wheat and mild yeast. The finish is fruity with a banana and cherry aftertaste. A somewhat run-of-the mill beer overall.

Served on draft at Hopcat in Grand Rapids, and labeled there just as Poolside Pale Wheat. Pours a pale orange color with a medium creamy head. Good head retention . Nice lacing. The aroma is bready and spicy with caramel and faint fruity notes. The taste is tart fruity notes, bread and spice. Medium bodied, Quite tart and fairly interesting beer.

Sample on tap at Eccentric. Body is amber with a little bit of a rosy head and aromas of cherries and wheat maltiness. Flavor follows suite and makes me wish it wasn’t a dreary Michigan day. In spite of the fruit this is crisp and refreshing with a little bit of pie cherry tartness to it.
