Draft glass @ Gollem. Very hazy citrus, big creamy white head. Nose is huge on brett but not a profile that really appeals on me,… whole is a bit like dirty brett, milky soggy cereal with oats and mineral components, strange. Taste is spoiled milk, lactic, citrus, big paper taste, industrial brett, sour cereal, perfume, more paper,… Body is cereal, paper, big brett & easy drinking. Brett feels industrial, low wet mop, washing powder & paper-like qualities,… I got a bit more into it as a drank, it isn’t as bad as my description sounds but this isn’t really what I want from a brett saison,…. Where is my bright funk & crispy body?

Brett saison by Omnipollo, at Gollem in Antwerp. Thickly cobweb lacing, moussy, irregular, frothy head, completely cloudy appearance, straw blonde with greenish hue. Aroma of lime, old fermenting orange juice, sweet silver onions, something ureum-like, green banana, moldy lemon peel, buttermilk, mango juice, white grape peel, limoncello, wet leather, green tea. Very fruity onset, estery, gooseberry, passion fruit and starfruit, sweetish and sourish through which a lactic kind of tartness cuts following the rest of the palate, softish carbo, orange juice gone sour, lime touch, soft and soapy middle, bready, earthy hop bitter touch in the end as well as retronasal leathery Brett effects which doubtlessly will become stronger and more complex as time passes by. An ’arousing’ beer to quote Craftmember - appetizing, sensual and frankly a bit bizarre in comparison with other Brett saisons I had, but very interesting and ’artistic’ like most of the Omnipollos.

Sample at a tasting. Very weird dankness, catty and smelly aroma. Dry, tart, very dank and catty hops. Weird.

Draught @ Brewdog Helsinki. Poured unclear yellowish color with a thin white head. Barnyard in aroma, floral notes and peaches. Flavor has citrusy hops, zest, barnyard. Dry and slightly funky finish. Superb farmhouse ale, the zesty notes here combined with the delicate aroma works nicely.

(Keg at BrewDog Helsinki, 20160820) The beer poured dirty yellow and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, spiciness and grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, spiciness, grapefruit, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was spicy, tart and bitter. An ugly looking  brew that pleasant to drink.
